Is it necessary? If we put a $Billion into deporting illegals, probably not.

Front door yes, back door no. We have a security system, fenced back yard, and 5 indoor dogs.

I lock my doors at night. Anyone who comes into my house uninvited after they are locked is a legitimate target.

Every night plus I have a deranged Jack Russell on guard. If they get past the first line of defense then they have to deal with me. An old but armed Vietnam Vet with bad hearing and and one good eye, but it’s my shooting eye! My old 8 shot Ithaca model 37. Not the same shotgun but I carried one just like it in the A Shau.

YES! I live to close to Memphis, the crime capitol of TN. CWW piece is not far out of reach, nor the 12 gauge. Dogs would have a fit too. Even little dogs are good warning systems. I shoot well enough even with poor vision if I can’t grab glasses, I’ll hit what I aim at. I don’t depend on LEO to get there fast enough.

I pity the fools who live in big LIBTARD cities and have to wait 30 mins for a 911 to be answered because the Police forces is 400 Officers down and to busy answering BS calls.

120+ murders just since Jan. this does not include all the stabbings and shootings that have been survived.

To close to my small berg 2 elderly people were murdered in home break in’s. This is highly unusual.

I lock my doors at night because the sound of a forced entry gives me time to get to the .44.

I lock my doors and set the alarm. I also have a dog that barks at strangers, several choices in loaded firearm within reach of my bedside, and high powered flashlights.

I don't live in a bad neighborhood. In fact I'd call it above average. So why the security? Well, my wife wants a dog just to have a dog. So might as well have one that is useful, right? The security system gets us a break on our homeowners insurance and also includes smoke and CO detectors - will notify the fire dept. even when we're not home. The firearms are for personal security when I'm not in my good neighborhood. They're also fun to shoot and have the added bonus of making libtards angry and uncomfortable.

I have no delusions about my security measures keeping me or my possessions absolutely "safe." If someone wants my TV bad enough, they are going to get it. They could cut power and cable/phone to the house. They could use a cell jammer to prevent the alarm from calling out via cell. They could bring dog treats. Anyone with a modicum of experience in the field could defeat the standard residential locks on our doors.

But now go back and re-read that list. That's a fair amount of effort and up-front intel work and risk to get a few things that might be worth a few hundred bucks on the street. So in considering my security measures, what they accomplish is to "raise the bar" or the cost of entry or the risk/reward ratio - however you want to look at it. Basically, the idea is to make my home simply not attractive, not worth it.

Same thing with locking my doors at night. A simple thing to keep the punks out. In the last couple of years there have been an increasing number of cars and garages broken into in our area. Obviously someone has moved into the neighborhood with some kids of questionable morals and/or someone's kids have hit those self-centered teenage years and are looking for easy pickings. It is not epidemic, it is rare enough it is obviously just a couple of kids who occasionally happen across something too good to pass up. Eventually they will grow out of it, move, or have an encounter with an angry homeowner that will either scare the {expletive} out of them or end tragically. So for now, a few precautions and this too will pass.

The author did not do a good job presenting a coherent case. She starts and finishes with the same questions, and does not appear to address the answers in the article.

Is it (a border "wall") really necessary?

Don't know. Let's quit giving free food, free medicine, free surgery, free dentistry, free housing, free education to illegal aliens. Let's quit giving driver licenses and off-the-books jobs to illegal aliens.

Phil Collins once sang: "it's no fun being an illegal alien".

Let's make that a reality. It costs us nothing; indeed it's a huge reduction in current expenses.

Do these things first. Then we'll talk about how much of a wall, fence, moat filled with punji stakes, whatever, that we actually need.

No need...... I have "watch geese"

They come out of nowhere at night and will attack anyone they don't know. They are quite large plus, they make enough noise to wake up the whole house causing a Glock to be deployed.

We have three (Larry, Moe, and Curly) and they love to surprise people. Nobody knows how to deal with an attacking goose.

Yes all outside doors locked, alarm set, bedroom door locked and 3 dogs sleeping in the bedroom with us. Did I mention we were armed too?

We both grew up not far from where we live now in the 40’s and 50’s and we never locked our doors. We always left our car keys in the car. It is a different world now.

I never could understand why some people brag about not ever locking their doors. Perhaps they are not wanting to let go of the ‘old days’ when folks trusted strangers/neighbors.

They are living under the false illusion that “It’ll never happen to me” or “We never locked our doors when I was a kid and we’re not gonna’ start now”. I’ve heard it repeated many times by what few neighbors we have and I ask them if their doors came with locks and why did the door company take the time to drill and install a locking handle.

We lock our doors during the day and we live in a VERY rural setting back in the woods, have a good-sized alert dog (Border Collie/Aussie mix) and various loaded weapons within quick reach in the house at all times, even in our outbuildings, etc. There may be 3-4 vehicles go up our rough dirt road during the day.

Living ‘out in the country’ makes you more vulnerable to home invasions and burglaries than if you lived in town.

Two years ago someone fired a rifle shot in our woods very near the house. It was 1:00 a.m. I armed myself and called the Sheriff’s Office...closed, yes closed. They transferred me to the State Trooper office. One hour & 40 minutes later they showed up and immediately asked me for MY I.D. and said it was probably just someone poaching a deer then left. WTH? I’ll never ever bother them again.

Locking doors were made for a reason...use them and keep your family safe.

Go Trump...build that wall!

“If you answered yes to this question, then tell me why?”

BECAUSE I AM NOT STUPID

my house was burglarized twice
once by two muslim kids working for their uncle stealing jewelry, who got caught and confessed to all the jobs they had done

and because there are lots of illegal wetback mexicans who work nearby and pass along at all hours of the day and night... they stew debris from their taco bell and snacks and candy bars and slurpees in front of my hosue and have not learned how to act like humans yet...

I DONT TEMPT FATE

I HOPE I AM NOT AROUND IF ONE BREAKS IN
I WOULD HATE EXPLAINING TO POLICE WHAT HAPPENED.......

The slobber buckets do a good job of keeping out varmints.

While locks are a good at keeping out honest people, the dishonest will get in no matter what.

I definitely lock my doors at night, but as burglaries are uncommon here, it’s optional during the day.
