After they are toppled some chaos here and there but a weak puppet regime is installed. If it is too weak to defeat Islamists so much the better.

I think the Pentagon is fighting the good fight but is being undermined by the Obama State Dept and the CIA. The CIA has a long history of backing Islamists since the 80s. It seems after Osama was eliminated al-Qaeda and the CIA kissed and made up again and joined forces in Syria.
Prove me wrong that this scenario is not plausible after reading this article.
