Donald Trump released a statement on Friday following the deadly police ambush in Dallas calling for love and compassion for police officers and first responders.
He called the shootings an attack on our country" -- "a coordinated, premeditated assault on the men and women who keep us safe.
We must restore law and order, he said. We must restore the confidence of our people to be safe and secure in their homes and on the street.
Trump added that the senseless, tragic deaths of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota remind us how much more needs to be done.
Our nation has become too divided, he wrote. Too many Americans feel like theyve lost hope. Crime is harming too many citizens. Racial tensions have gotten worse, not better. This isnt the American Dream we all want for our children.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee postponed a campaign event in Miami, Fla., scheduled later today.
Similarly, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton postponed her rally in Scranton, Penn., where she was expected to appear with Vice President Joe Biden.
She plans to address the Dallas police ambush and the fatal shootings of Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile at the AME National Convention in Philadelphia this evening.
Clinton tweeted this morning, I mourn for the officers shot while doing their sacred duty to protect peaceful protesters, for their families & all who serve with them.

What is that image supposed to represent and what is your intention in posting it?
Whenever a law enforcement officer is killed in action, the other officers put a black band over their badge to show respect
It is a police officer’s necktie, shirt, badge and patch. The badge is wrapped with a blue and black mourning ribbon that police wear when another officer is killed, as five were in Dallas on the weekend. The nation’s mourning period is until Tuesday.
Thank you both.
You’re welcome....
