As a veteran of Special Forces (and a keen observer of military affairs) I decided with my unique perspective to wade through the 800-plus pages of the Select Committee Report on the Benghazi debacle, which as we all know cost 5 Americans their lives. It is, as you can imagine, a rather daunting task; and far too much material to cover in a single post. So, instead, I will comment on those glaring errors in judgement, actions, and questions remaining as strike me (from a military standpoint) while reading the Report; here in bite-sized parts.

It should be keep in mind that the initial attack on September 11, 2012 upon the Ambassador’s residence at the American Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi (not designated as an official “Consulate”) began (approx) at 9:42 local time. It would continue as an off-and-on engagement for the next 13 hours. The fighting would start at the Diplomatic Mission compound where the Ambassador and six other Americans were present; and continue through the dark streets of Benghazi; and, finally, into the early morning hours at the CIA Annex, which came under siege.

And .. I heard for the first time that General Ham was told that the rescue had already taken place. He reacted accordingly, and didn’t send other teams. This was shocking to hear for the first time when Gowdy gave their report.

I always wondered why General Ham had supposedly all but threatened the President because of the mess at Benghazi; especially when Ham learned he had been given incorrect information about the team being already evac.

Could that move have been on purpose to set up Ham to get fired ..?? I know Ham resigned .. but I never knew the exact circumstances. I also knew that Ham had made it known to a few that he was at the point of storming the WH .. and I just always wondered if Obama got wind of it .. and made sure Ham was tainted and forced to resign.

My problem with all the lying going on is, the Islamoterrorists began their attack a few minutes after 2100 hours on 09-11-2012. Rone Woods and Glen Doherty were killed after 0500 hours the following morning. Obonzo, Clintoon and their enablers say that there was nothing they could do to help them. It takes a commercial airliner about 2.5 hours to fly from Aviano to Benghazi. Throw in a few F-16s and do the math.

My squadron’s deployment to Rota was interrupted by the Cuban Missile Crisis. Back then (1962), Rota was a Naval Base with Air Operations. If it still is and a Marine F.A.S.T. unit is deployed there, why wasn’t a Marine GV (C-130) already there or closer than Germany?

Malta has not hosted a British military presence since 1979.

Our forward base in the event of any Libyan action would've been Sigonella NAS on Sicily -- about 450 miles from Benghazi.

Based on all the evidence that has been brought to light since 2012, I have concluded that the U.S. operation in Libya was operating without any oversight of the Obama administration and was actually part of a "shadow U.S. government" that was being financed by foreign and corporate interests through the Clinton Foundation.

This is what the private server was all about.

This is why the "diplomatic staff" in Benghazi had a private security contractor instead of traditional protection of a U.S. Marine outfit.

And nobody in Washington wanted to touch this thing because this is how the U.S. operates in these foreign countries as a matter of course.

Doesn’t give you much faith in the accuracy of the article if the writer gets that wrong, does it? I did as I vowed I would do and read all the posts before I posted this reply and don’t see anyone else replying. I don’t have patience to read anything that starts out with errors like this one has. Pretty doggone important to know the number of deaths that night (or morning) because if those hadn’t taken place, Benghazi would have been a blip in the news in 2012 and we wouldn’t still be following investigations about it!

I have said this from the beginning. Only POTUS can give an order to cross an international border. If that order was given then our men did not need permission from Libia to go save American lives. Our men were waiting for permission because POTUS was unavailable to give that order. Changing uniforms was just to buy time. POTUS was behind a DO NOT DISTURB sign snorting and otherwise being serviced by FGOTUS Reggie Love. That is not an order to deploy and I suspect Ham said "I can only deploy under a direct order from POTUS."

Taking all the above into consideration this is what I think went down.

This was supposed to be a kidnapping operation run by POTUS and SOS so that in the 11th hour Obama could trade the Bling Shite for our ambassador making Obama look good ahead of Nov 4. So knowing what was going to happen he didn't see the need to stick around so he went into private quarters thinking all was well.

Waking up to the news that things didn't go so well he skipped his briefing and went onto Vegas...

This just came out in the report? It's news to me, I haven't had time to read any of it. When you say he was ready to storm the WH does that mean over Benghazi? I've never heard that either.

Clearly someone with greater authority than Ham (gee, only two people in the world, who could it possibly be?) sold Ham a lie about a rescue so he would ... wait for it ... stand down.
