A Petaluma fisherman got a big bite, but didn't expect the fish he reeled in to bite back. Juan Gallo caught a pacu fish at the Lucchesi Park pond in Petaluma over the weekend. But as he lifted the fish from the water, its teeth cut the line.
A pacu is a freshwater fish typically found in the Amazon River and a relative of the piranha. While the fish is sold at U.S. pet shops, theyre illegal in California.
Gallo managed to keep a hold of the fish, and plans to turn it over to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. He said if they dont want it, he may have it stuffed. See the video coverage here.
Looks like a Sheepshead - really bony but good flaky white meat. Catch them all the time down on the Gulf Coast.
It being California, he'll probably be charged with possession of an illegal fish.
Nope. You should watch River Monsters more:)
LOL! I tried to watch this guy. It gets to the point I just yell out, “shut up and just cast your line!”
I put most TV shows on pause and then watch it at 4x speed and 15x through the ads:) I watch some news programs at 60x speed.
