Announcement: The SSS is Set to Sail

NOTE:  As has been my custom for the past two years I will betaking a summer semi-sabbatical (SSS) for the next few months. Butt as the old cowpoke once said…“I don’t know how quit you.”  

Accordingly, I’m not shuttering the shop, just cutting back on my hours a bit in order to tend to a myriad of half-done or not yet started projects that tend to build up every year and demand attention by the time summer rolls around. The posts will be shorter, mixed with some open threads and/or re-posts from the MOTUS deep vault of golden oldies. And I won’t be checking in throughout the day as regularly as I normally do.

So I’m calling on the MOTI (MOL, MOD and FOM) to perform troll patrol and generally carry the load around here for the summer - with all the wit, snark and je ne sais quoi we’ve all come to expect from each other.

For the SSS inaugural post I chose one from the vault. And with that I leave you to reflect on the uncanny frequency with which umbrellas, dogs and ice cream seem to come into the picture now that Obama is Here.

The first pic is a little unfair. If you look at the sidewalk, it appears to have been raining. Barack is trying to keep Michelle and himself covered, as opposed to ducking the umbrella through the gate and getting sprinkled. It doesn't appear to be a torrential downpour, so a little sprinkling wouldn't hurt, but I understand the impulse.

Michelle's a big girl and could probably survive a few raindrops. From the look in her eyes, though, that might not have seemed a prudent course of action for Barack at the time.

If it had been Hillary, of course, there would be the risk of melting, so it would be an entirely different calculation.
