Yeah, I kinda thought about that too. But the ladies took swift action...they quickly did the right thing. I guess the writer chose "heroic" because it was a short word that, in a way, fit.

But if a crime was taking place in a heavily populated neighborhood and everyone shut their windows and failed to help, we'd be appalled too.

At least the article is an acknowledgement of a positive reaction on their part.

Right, some other virtue, but heroism involves risk to life or safety. Maybe if the perp saw her...

They might have been mistaken. After all, only one of them actually saw the action. She might have been wrong.

In which case, if I were the jury (in the civil case that would result), they'd be on the hook for any negative consequences experienced by the guy.
