This is EXACTLY what governments are instituted among men to accomplish - to secure the benefits of life (including protecting that life from invaders), liberty and property (in the unedited words of the Declaration). What happens if the government fails in that most basic of functions, despite our most humble entreaties?

We need to get serious in demanding that our governments fulfill their basic function, or they have forfeited their right to govern.
