The Prisoner's Song--Vernon Dalhart (1925)
To: Nachum
The murder of 12-year-old Marian Parker was one of the most notorious crimes ever to take place in Los Angeles. William Hickman, her kidnapper and killer was quickly caught. Justice was swift in those days, and following conviction, he was executed by hanging in 1928. Vernon Dalhart celebrated this event in his song "The Hanging of the Fox" (1928), which has not yet made it to Youtube.
