Breaking: Mitch McConnell says he'll support Donald Trump as the Republican nominee.
(Excerpt) Read more at newsmax.com ...
Hillary is going to run the most vile and vicious campaign in American history and Trump has opportunity like few others before him ever have possessed, by taking the high ground and not stooping to the level of Hillary (G-d, I hate writing even her first name, it'll be at least 3 or 4 generations before it stops being so toxic).
If he does this, then he'll have already taken a massive first real step toward leading the way to an American renaissance.
America needs leadership? Damn right it does. I said I didn't vote for him in the primary because of my personal rule. If he takes the road less traveled, and I sincerely believe that most Americans would admire him for it enough to enthusiastically vote for him, then yes I absolutely would and will vote for Trump in the general.
I've run for office before. Didn't win (came close though) but I gave it my best shot. Haven't been the same since. When you grab hold of the responsibility the Founding Fathers gave us by the horns, it changes you. For the better. Can you say you've stood for public office?
Maybe if more of us did and vowed to do so honorably, this could have the chance of being the America it need to be. Can't expect it to change for the better if you just keep trusting others. You have to step up and do some things yourself.
I expect better from American leadership. We all should.
All eyes on Hillary.
I don’t trust him. period. Then I hear on this morning’s news that the 2 former Bush Presidents won’t support him and may vote Hillary. Freaking despicable. So long as everything was going their way, all is swell. Thank you, Donald Trump for opening my eyes. The whole lot of them disgust me almost beyond comprehension.
Related topic: I understand that it’s constitutionally-sound if Trump’s VP pick also took over the role of House Speaker. If Newt was the VP pick, he could pick up where he left off years ago. It would help Trump avoid blockades in Congress from Ryan.
As for McConnell, he and many others haven’t received enough postcards from irate voters.
Newts age is often given by those opposed to him as VP. What are the rules if a VP resigns in the middle of 2nd term and needs to be replaced with a younger person?
25th Amendment.
President nominates VP, and House and Senate must approve.
The utopian behavior you’re describing — turn the other cheek when your political foe brands you as a racist bigot and more — is all well and good in some areas of life. But this is the Mother of all Competitions, and this ain’t Tiddlywinks. Besides, that kind of behavior is interpreted by the masses as big-time choking. Big-time choking leads to big-time defeat. Just ask Mitt Romney & Company.
We are here for at least 4 clear reasons:
1) The inexplicable failure of BushJr to defend himself during 8 years of mostly unfair, unrelenting criticism from SoreLoser Gore supporters;
2) A weak, ineffectual cheerleader-chant of “Fight, Fight, Fight!” by McCain in the closing days of the 2008 campaign that left most of us scratching our heads;
3) A defeatist collapse by Mitt Romney in 2012 in the closing days of his campaign, beginning with his choking during that 2nd debate; and
4) The bought-and-sold Congress of 2008-2016, a collective group of wussified, panty-waisted, globalists who are enriching themselves by selling our national sovereignty on the proverbial global auction block.
So here we sit, right in the middle of writing the 22nd-century history books, witnessing The Trump Phenomenon. We are here protecting Donald Trump from current and future knife attacks because we KNOW Trump is a street fighter who will go for the jugular of his opponent if he is attacked unfairly. Unlike all previous GOP Presidential contenders since Reagan, The Donald is ready, willing, and able to rip to shreds the Head Beelzebub of our time.
And you want this brave leader to lay over and expose his vital organ underbelly to Beelzebub so you feel comfortable voting for him?
Allrighty then.
Thanks!
Boy that is scary indeed. Anyone that turtle head supports is generally not someone who I could get behind. However I think Trump is what this country needs at this particular time - Obie set the stage for what is about to come, just like GWB set the stage for Hussien.
LIKE THAT TREASONOUS REPROBATE McCONNELL HAS ANY DAMN CHOICE!
LOL!
Mr. Trump, may you make McConnell’s and Ryan’s days one of abject, unrelenting MISERY.
No sleep either : )
We probably just differ on which goals McConnell was actually referring to.
Paul Ryan cracked somewhat the same message himself, but was far more specific. Ryan referred to the growing prospect of a nominee TRUMP cooperating with Ryan’s House agenda.
This, from an open border shill?
This, from a Speaker who funded the accelerated “refugee” program.
TRUMP campaigned against all of those inclinations, and won the nomination on them, imho.
Jim Rob himself has reminded us that the Republicans on the Hill, gave Obama everything he wanted. And very recently.
Mr. TRUMP has in the past 48 hours, said on more than one occasion that the ridiculous Ryan omniBUST agreement increased our debt to 23 Billion dollars.
Not quite sure what you believe, among those actions, even remotely restored “economic and national security”, or proved to be even slightly diluted in their future goals.
As for their 2017 “goals”, in the House and Senate, they were designed around ABT, (anybody but TRUMP) becoming the nominee, but more likely around the Jeb Bush Family Machine.
TRUMP has not much in common with that constant liberal Establishment thinking, imho.

Nita, I am not familiar with such a thing myself, in the context of serving in two positions, as VP and Speaker. BlackElk is the sage of FR, imho, and can verify.
I believe it is true that any citizen can serve as Speaker, if only he manage to be elected by the House of Representatives. Don’t know about serving both positions, since in line for the presidency involves three separate tiers.
There should be a place for Newt Gingrich, with TRUMP, and Newt has certainly invested in polishing his overall image since his photo fiasco with Pelosi, and made himself ready to serve again, even in a “kitchen cabinet”.
Yep. They all have been outed and they are all traitors.
Don't misunderstand me regarding Mitch. He's a lying POS.
That said, I saw no intimated threat in his statement of support for Trump. I saw an @ss-kisser.
I remain more skeptical. If only Mitch had stopped with the supportive part, and not added his expectations of the nominee to kiss also his “goals”. lol!
Preach it!
I do not believe that ANYONE employed in the Executive Branch can also be Speaker of the House or even a member of the House (although it is not mandatory that the Speaker be elected as a Congressman). Likewise, no federal judge would be eligible to simultaneously serve as Speaker. These cases would cause a violation of the constitutional requirement of separation of powers. Vice President presiding over the Senate is constitutionally authorized and therefore not a violation of separation of powers.
Newt Gingrich is supporting Trump. He was purged by Hastert, Livingston, Boehner, Bill Paxton, Susan Molinari and John Kasich, among others all of them loyal to the GOP-E. Revenge is a dish best served cold. In this case, very cold. No one understands the House and its processes better than Gingrich. He could form a new leadership cadre, lead them to enact Trump's agenda, then retire having chosen a preferred successor. Newt is not getting any younger but he has one more major fight left in him. He is tanned, rested and ready.
He just won an election in 2014, so he’s got 4 years left, minimum.
On the plus side, Mitch had a TEA Party primary opponent in 2014 who made a credible showing, who in 2015 won the KY gubernatorial race, despite being significantly down in most polls immediately before the election. I find this encouraging.
Matt Bevin is already bumping heads with Dems over several issues in KY. Not a go along to get along guy,
What you’re saying makes a lot more sense than what i read a few days ago. Thanks! I’m all in for Newt to be SOH. In a heartbeat.
