I can’t imagine that he sleeps well at night knowing that what he is doing is making America weaker, and more vulnerable to ruin

There is a scene in "Atlas Shrugged" about 2/3rds through when the ongoing actions of the government are wrecking everything and they have an emergency summit of insiders to think about what to do next. Most are blind fools in over their heads and think if they have more power then can fix it so the solution is to seize more power, naturally. One guy in the room is the head of the unions and he listens and sees clearly that what they are doing is going to lead to ruin. But he cynically says if these clowns are going to wreck the system instead of fighting it he was going to make sure he got his and he signed on in exchange for some kickbacks.

Most democrat rank and file (especially the women) are like the first group. they think a big powerful government will keep them safe and protect them and take care of them so the more power the better. The ones running things are like the union thug though. They know it's destructive and they don't care because they are getting theirs.

I liked the Atlas Shrugged movies. Too bad they couldn’t keep the same actors from beginning to end. (I ascribe that to a liberal black-list).

Thanks for making the connection. I think your analysis is correct.

So, some people shouldn’t be allowed to vote, because we might not like how they might vote? Am I getting this right?

In America, we used to view voting as both a right bestowed by God, AND a responsibilitly. Are we sayong that former inmates shouldn’t begin maintaining ALL of their responsibilities as citizens of the united States?

How about other responsibilities such as getting a job, or paying taxes? Maybe they shouldn’t be allowed to eat or own homes?

Maybe we should reinstitute slavery? Slaves weren’t allowe to vote, get jobs, own property. They had to spend their lives kissing the feet of their owners, much like the government imposes restrictions on people who complete prison sentences.

They spend the next several years of their lives tethered to govermnent agencies, paying off their ransome, being told the can’t live anyplace, being refused work by employers while having tje threat of going back to prison over their heads for failure to comply. And they can’t vote, either.

Felonies aren’t always big bad crimes like murder or armed robbery, rape of children, or corporate embezzelment. Sometimes they are as small as slipping a piece of paper on to a pot pipe in a glove box during a traffic stop...a pipe belonging to the car’s owner, the papber being slipped over by a well meaning child, and then the child being charged with felony possession of drug paraphenalia, and being too poor to hire a lawyer.

You all believe that child should never be allowed to vote for the rest of his life?

That’s not a rare isolated incident.
