One of Trump’s most enduring and arguably most endearing campaign lines has been his promise to treat American vets better. When Trump dropped out of a Fox News debate in January he held a separate event at which he raised money for veterans. But three months later, Trump’s campaign adviser for veterans, Al Baldasaro, doesn’t seem too concerned about it. He told the Daily Beast, “Im not concerned about it, because I know [Trump is] an honorable, honest guy you guys just want to say, gotcha.”
To be fair, Baldasaro is not a Trump staffer. The real problem is that anyone who has attempted to track down the $6 million raised has been unable to find more than about half that amount that was actually delivered to veterans’ groups. From the Daily Beast:
Since the fundraiser, numerous media organizations have investigated whether the charities have received the $6 million. The investigations span the ideological spectrum: the progressive MSNBC and the conservative Weekly Standard have been unable to find all the funds; as have The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and The Daily Beast.
The money simply hasnt been found.
In early March, CNN was able to track down $2.9 million, citing the Trump campaign. In early April, The Wall Street Journal traced $2.4 million of the promised funds.
That CNN total of $2.9 million was based on a list of 29 veterans organizations shown to the network by a Trump spokesperson, so that seems to be the best case scenario. However, when CNN checked with those organizations one of them said they had not seen any money yet and the majority refused to comment:
When contacted by CNN, only nine groups confirmed they had received payments totaling $800,000, one group said no payment had yet been made, and the rest either refused to disclose contributions or did not respond to CNN’s requests for comment.
A Trump spokesperson told CNN contributions would continue as money came in from donors, but why wait for money to come in?
Trump made a big point of raising this money for veterans. That was an honorable thing to do. He could do vets another solid (and maybe gain a little of his declining favorability back) by stepping up and advancing the money from his own bank account if necessary. Doing so would be a win for his campaign and a win for veterans.
Soon Cruz will have a house on top of him, his little stripped socks sticking out onto the yellow brick road.
Who “dangled”?
Here’s the problem with liars.
These are the kinds of anti-Trump stories that come out right before a primary election day. In this case, the April 26th primary day is coming up. The stop-Trump zealots throw all kinds of mud hoping something sticks.
I "backtrack, take back, and revisit" my statement.
So?
Half of it was already delivered and I am sure the rest will be delivered also.
And is anyone looking at the expenses associated with the collection?
All charities deliver the NET amount: the amount collected, remaining AFTER expenses have been paid.
The MSM is just trying to find something, anything bad to say about Trump, whether or not it’s true.
The thanks goes to Ceebass for this timely response!
I’ll bet there is no lang in the amount collected and dispursed.
Some refused to disclosed how much they received, which means the rest of the story is meaningless. Plus there is a difference between pledged and received.
(1) Ted Cruz doesn't even tithe(2) Nowhere in these articles does it say the $6 million that was promised to Trump was actually delivered
(3) Daily Beast totally repackaging a CNN article on a Friday news dump that apparently lasted into Saturday
I forgot to add: "Chick'n Trump" should debate Cruz. One-on-one. And save the crap about all the debates they've already had . All of them - save one perhaps, were prime-time entertainment venues. Also, save the crap about Trump "doesn't HAVE to debate because he's ahead. C'mon! Put the Country first! Debate, ya weeny.
A REAL debate.
Trump won't do it. He'd find himself in a deep place - an intellectual hole that is totally unfamiliar to him. He'd get "schooled" on policy, issues, presentation, and perspective.
Very, very, and very.
Finally, as an added bonus the PAC (that's not Cruz, it's a PAC - a fact you willfully ignore) would then make the $1.5M contribution. I'm guessing they'd give 100-percent of it, too. They'd come through with the promise they made.
Believe me, very, very.
Man up, Trump!
article would be more convincing coming from someone who doesn’t have a long record of grinding that anti-Trump axe
Excuse me. Why do they have to be photoshopped? Believe me, Cruz goes around with that very, very, very 'creepy, unsettling' grin all day long...
<-- Neurologist explains why its hard to look at Ted Cruzs creepy unsettling face |
I am sorry...I meant to put “all” under name...My apologies..I have noticed your posts and I know you are a Trump supporter.....
What would be the point of another debate?
Cruz can’t reach 1237. He’s lost. There’s no reason for Trump to debate him.
All Cruz wants is for people to forget that he’s lost in the vain hope that me might somehow win another primary.
...But nearly a month after Trump made the pledge, at least three, and possibly more, of the 22 charities havent received any money yet, according to interviews conducted by FOX Business.
...We havent received any money yet, but [we] do expect to get it. Its not unusual when someone or an organization has an event, for it to take weeks or even months before we receive a check, said Kerri Childress, vice president of Fisher House, one of the 22 veterans charities on the Trump list that hasnt received money as of publication of this story.
So, this is just another in a long line of Trump hitpieces from the Trump-anklebiting kamikruzies.
Hillary thanks you personally, SeekAndFind.
That face!
You also forgot to add that Cruz lost the nomination to Trump.
Get over it, kamicruzie.
