What difference does it make if the cost of the goods make them unaffordable?

On average, for US made manufactured goods, labor accounts for between 5-8% of the retail price. So at most 10% inflation and that is being generous.

It’s better to have jobs and afford some goods, than not to have jobs and not be able to afford any goods, even though they are cheap.
