In 2 weeks he will be mathematically eliminated from winning the majority of delegates, he should drop out then, not try to stop Trump to have a convention fight.

Gee, in that case no candidate should ever drop out until someone reaches that number!

What does Lincoln have to do with anything?
There was no primaries in those days.
And Cruz is certainly no Lincoln or Ike!

Not if Trump gets over 50%.
And Cruz isn't winning any delegates from the NE States.
In 2 weeks he will be mathematically eliminated and he knows it.

You are aware that Lincoln won in a contested convention. Even though he didn’t have the plurality of delegates going in. You do know this. Right?

Cruz is done in two weeks.
He isn't competitive in another State until May.

You have to have a majority of the delegates to win the primary. Something Trump and his supporters don’t feel should apply to him.

The spirit behind the rules is that candidates drop out when they know they can't win the majority, not stay in to make the nomination go to the convention.
Do you think that Trump people will ever vote for Cruz under those circumstances?

No, Trump voters know when the game is being rigged.
Trump is running as Republican but the GOP Party is united against him and trying to steal the nomination from him.

And far more dont want Cruz. Whatever. I'm so done with both of these clowns. The election is over. We lost. And we lost our way in the process.
I've had some time to reflect on this election without participating in any of these threads. It is a sad thing to see so many Freepers who are so hell bent on destroying the candidate that they don't like that they have gone out of their way to destroy relationships with fellow freepers in the process.
I can't say anything good about either candidate without incurring the wrath of the opposite side. So I won't say anything good about either. I can only see that the well has been poisoned. We will be drinking bitter water in November.

Cruz supporters think they can steal the nomination from Trump and then complain when we don't vote for Cruz!
Sorry, but if Hillary gets elected it is because of Cruz supporters, not Trump ones.

Try to steal the nomination from Trump and we will stay home.
Keep that in mind as you smugly attempt to highjack the nomination.

There is a great deal of hatred because Trump supporters hate those who want to cheat the process, by going by the letter of the law and ignoring the spirit.

That was when the conventions were the only means of selecting.
The primaries were created to avoid convention fights and let the average voter have a voice.
Your appeal to Lincoln is not relevant to anything going on today.

If you are talking about the Magic 1237 you are probably correct. Lincoln was mathematically eliminated too but he managed to get elected.
The problem is that Trump is very likely to be mathematically eliminated as well, just later in the cycle. But, if not, I'll vote vote for him. He is certainly a better choice than Bernie or Hillary. I'm sure you will do the same. Unless you disagree about Bernie or Hillary.
To: Durbin
No, that is Cruz's view.
Cruz seems to think that since he can't win the majority, it is alright for him to do what he can to stop Trump from doing so.
The primary system was set up to prevent convention fights, not lead to them!
The convention is only suppose to come into play when there is a true division like in the case of Ford and Reagan.
Cruz is way behind Trump and will be further behind at the end of the month.
