The smoking gun is in emails obtained by Judicial Watch which show conclusively that Leon Panetta and State Department claims that US military had no in-theatre resources capable of reaching the Benghazi defenders in time was a lie. State was told there were at least two different military units capable of rendering assistance, and "are spinning up, waiting for your go-ahead, right now."

Judicial Watch's version of the email, recovered under FOIA, is heavily redacted. But once it made its appearance, the Benghazi Committee admitted they have had an uncensored version for over a year.

I’m sorry but I don’t call that a smoking gun as it’s been well publicized. There have been dozens of articles/discussions about the subject and most recently I posted this link for the March 2016 discussion group of Judicial Watch. I have the transcript also and don’t recall JW glossed over Panetta and the State Department’s claims that military resources were not available to go to Benghazi.

That was known when Panetta appeared in front of the congressional panel long ago also. That was his “infamous” remark that we couldn’t send our military into “risky situations”....Certainly uncovered long before any emails were released...
