Sorry, but you are forgetting that Bill was always the much better POLITICIAN than she was, and saw things in political terms. She was the better LAWYER, and saw everything in legal terms... and still does.
He knew the public would forgive and forget, remember that his approval ratings went UP in the aftermath of the original news break.
She insisted on the legalize approach
True.
She was the better LAWYER, and saw everything in legal terms...
Doubtful. We have no reason to believe she is/was a good lawyer at all. Just a claim by the collaborationist press to that she was brilliant (at everything.) Nothing in her career has ever verified that.
He knew the public would forgive and forget, remember that his approval ratings went UP in the aftermath of the original news break.
I believe you will find that this claim is untrue. Morris and Clinton conducted polls in the immediate aftermath, and determined that if the truth came out immediately Clinton would be destroyed.
This is why I find your claim dubious, at best. If you remember the Clinton Presidency, he did nothing -- ever-- without conducting a poll. When Dick Morris says that they did a lot of research before making the decision, I believe that, and I do not believe that any cadre of insiders made that decision on Bill's behalf. Hillary was certainly involved. But if the decision was made by any group larger than the two Clinton's, Morris, and one or two other very close political advisers it would be very surprising and unusual.
And I do NOT believe Bill would ever have allowed his political instincts to take a back seat to Hillary's legal ones. EVER.
