I see your point. The attacks on both sides have degenerated to making debating points.

Ultimately though we all need to face the fact that all this bickering is not helping this election cycle.

Given Cruz has proven to be a voice of conservatism in the senate at a time when the GOPE was in surrender monkey mode.

Given that he represents possibly the best chance of undoing some of the liberal policy changes that are bleeding out the heart of America.

How does he get elected without both the Trump Voters (traditional republican voters~30%) and the ~10 percent non traditional republican voters that Trump brings in with his populist positions? That is a pool of around 66~67 million voters, of who 24 million have some allegiance to trump, against a total of around 18 million hard-corp Cruz supporters.

They need each other. They need to have a path to win this election, change the alignments of the parties and go on and win in 2020 It is the only way, Pat Buchanan is right.

Is that all you have? Lies wrapped up in little bundles hoping some evangelical dolt buys into it?

Ya gotta do better.

I agree with your points. Trump or Cruz deserve to be the next nominee and both are running on anti-establishment themes.

The question is, who can better unite the party after the convention? Trump’s no-holds-barred attacks on virtually every other republican, which he continues to this day, leave him in a poor position to be a uniter.

His past support of the Clintons and democrat policies leaves him in poor position to win in November.

Point out one lie in my post and back it up with facts and I’ll concede your point.

That Trump supports partial birth abortions. I’ll wait for the concession.

Correct on Trump not being a uniter, unless Cruz choses to come halfway. Then see what happens. They could still become buddies, unless both of them have egos the size of france, which may well be.

I cannot speak to all states, but here in PA I would say a Trump/Cruz ticket has a reasonable chance.

A Trump ticket alone...not likely.... a lot of the hard core traditional republicans will not vote for him. I see why and would not expect those chaps to see it otherwise.

A Cruz ticket alone. No chance in PA. Simply stated he does not offer the middle/working class any real-thing that will help them, that is the perception. It may be wrong but that is the perception. The pull over of untraditional republican voters will simply not occur.

Fact is the republican party needs Trumps plank to have chance to win (or at least most of it). That does not come without Trump.

Together there is a chance of a realignment of the parties, just like occurred in 1980, 1964 and 1932. In order for the conservatives to eventually get the policy changes they want out of Cruz, they are going to have to go through Trump for one election to get it.

at least that is how it appears in the Northeast, and a few of the vital swing states are here (Ohio, PA New Jersey)

Trump/Cruz 2106 and Cruz 2020.

I said Trump invented the term “New York values” to defend his support for partial birth abortion. Here is the actual interview with Tim Russert:

We don’t need to lie about Trump to make our case. Trump’s verbatim words are enough.

He says later (right after the part you conviently left off) "I am strong pro-choice but hate the concept of abortion"

Later, after learning more about the subject:

I support a woman’s right to choose, but I am uncomfortable with the procedures. When Tim Russert asked me on Meet the Press if I would ban partial-birth abortion, my pro-choice instincts led me to say no. After the show, I consulted two doctors I respect and, upon learning more about this procedure, I have concluded that I would support a ban. The ultimate insider GOPe lobbyist. Trump is showing his true colors.
Can't wait to see how the Trump supporters explain this away.

That's easy...He's not buying Trump like the GOPe bought Cruz...Trump is buying him...

Manafort is a lifelong GOPe lobbyist (Ford, Dole, the Bushes). He is now running Donnie’s campaign. Looks to me like Donnie is steering hard to the center/left to rescue his faltering campaign. Your thoughts?

You're missing something...Trump hired this guy to BEAT the GOPe...Not to join forces with them...Your logic is skewed...

All we do is use Trump’s verbatim comments supporting liberal/Democrat positions and in return we get made-up sleaze and could-have-been shadowy fiction about Cruz and his wife and family.

Sadly that's not true...You dig up comments that Trump made forty years ago and pretend they are his current positions...And then you twist and lie about his current positions and try to convince people Trump is anti 2nd Amendment and his healthcare policy is the same as Obama's and all sorts of stuff...

And THEN you trash the 1st Amendment and side with Obama and Hillary attacking Trump...And you guys and Cruz are principled conservatives??? That is a laugh...

Best chance??? Cruz got zero support in the Senate...How's he going to get support from anyone else...Cruz has no chance at all...That's his record...
