With Rubio out, GOP establishment ready to unite behind . . . Kasich?

Marco Rubio did his part, although he should have done it two weeks ago when it might have given Ted Cruz a chance to take Florida’s 99 winner-take-all delegates. What’s done is done, though, and Rubio’s campaign is now as officially done as it already was practically done. The Catch 22 if you’re a Cruz supporter, of course (or simply a #NeverTrump bitter-ender), is that you needed John Kasich to win Ohio last night to deny Trump that state’s 66 delegates, but you also need Kasich to now do what he won’t do precisely because he won:

Get out as well.

It’s counter-intuitive to think a guy would get out after his first actual win, but there’s nothing intuitive about the way this race is going. You’d think Kasich could do the math and recognize that even with the Ohio win, there’s no way he’s ever going to get enough delegates to become the nominee. But does he realize that? Not only does it appear he doesn’t, but it now appears that the dreaded Republican establishment is just as willing as Kasich himself to get on the Kasich-as-savior train now that Rubio is out:

They can “unite” without me, I’d rather vote for Hillary than that weasel.

The more candidates in the puddle in March, the muddier the water in July. The muddier the water in July, the easier it will be for Paul Ryan to rise up out of it.

The Democrat Party (both labels, Democrat and Republican) is getting desperate.

These people who are organizing the Stop Trump movement are incompetent clowns. Rubio needs to stay in the race more than ever now. Rubio dropping out now helps Trump. Everytime one of these GOP ass clowns drops out, Trumps number always grow higher. Thats why hes breaking 50% percent now in the last national poll. Trump doesnt even have to win every state anymore. He just needs to get his proportional share between him and Cruz and he wins. Rubio was at least pulling anywhere from 10 to 20 percent at each contest. Kashick is now going to pull numbers from Cruz. These guys have have no clue.
You cant stump the TRUMP!

You could almost feel sorry for those pathetic losers if they were not such a lying, treasonous, two-faced, cowardly, power hungry, self-serving bunch of bastards.

My thoughts exactly. Someone needs to tell that turd blossom he is only a legend in his own mind.

His speech last night sounded like he was at a support group meeting of some kind.

Unite behind a guy who has won one state? I don’t think so. This is getting beyond insane.

Trump is marching steadily toward 1237 delegates and he will have them in his pocket when he walks into the convention. Way before that and I think very soon the GOPe is going to mend fences with the obvious soon to be winner and they will pressure Cruz and Kasich to get out.

Here’s James Taranto’s Bye-ku for Rubio. It’s funny:

Bye-ku for Marco Rubio

A political machine
Failed the Turing test

Would not surprise me in the least. After all, it IS his turn!
