So the political world has been abuzz over the last day or so with the news that Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski manhandled Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields. Most people have focused on the servile deference Breitbart has given the Trump campaign afterwards, as though that were some surprising or newsworthy item. Personally, I do not care what Breitbart does, since it has been obvious for months that they are basically the PR arm of the Trump campaign, so its perfectly obvious that they arent going to criticize Lewandowski.
Whats interesting about this whole debacle is the Trump campaigns response to it.
The statement was issued in the wee hours of Wednesday morning but remains Breitbarts official comment on the matter, hours after sources said Lewandowski acknowledged to Breitbarts Washington political editor, Matthew Boyle, that he did manhandle Fields.
Lewandowskis explanation to Boyle, said these sources, was that he and Fields had never met before and that he didnt recognize her as a Breitbart reporter, instead mistaking her for an adversarial member of the mainstream media. Trumps press secretary, Hope Hicks, didnt respond to an email seeking comment. Nor did the usually responsive Boyle.
So, to be clear, Lewandowski would have been cool with manhandling a female reporter if she had been with a real news organization, but since she was with Breitbart, hes kind of sort of sorry about the whole incident.
This kind of stuff is what makes me more resistant to the idea of voting for Trump than any of Trumps, um, flexibility when it comes to policy issues. Trump is clearly fostering an environment that really does seem pretty totalitarian in nature and in which all enemies of Trump are fair game (in the minds of Trump supporters) for physical or legal abuse.

Sad.
Weird headline. How does a “campaign” assault somebody?
another nothing burger
I’m still voting for Trump. At LEAST once. Okay, filthy media-swine— next!
The Trump campaign did not “assault” anyone. A reporter was moved out of the way to clear a space at a Trump rally.
Details in this “article” about the alleged “manhandling” are non-existent.
However, if Ms. Fields can’t run with the big dogs, she should stay on the porch.
After so many fraudulent attack article, why would anyone take this attack seriously?
They suffer from the “Boy who cried Wolf” syndrome now.
Having lied so often about Trump no one can take these sort of accusation from these Hate Trump Always websites seriously anymore
I would wait for an intellectually credibil confirmation before taking anything these sort of smear bots post seriously.
More propaganda to feed the peasant class voters...
Trump’s campaign manager assaulted a reporter who asked Trump a question he didn’t like. So “the campaign “ refers to Trump and a campaign manager. Not sure if you really didn’t understand this or you are just trying to sound smart. Either way I would have hoped that Trump would have helped her up and apologized for the actions of his staff. Instead he just turned and walked away. Read her own words on Breitbart News.
In another article I read it said that he had grasped her arm and pulled her out of the way. It sounded like nothing. And remember, "manhandle" is the author's word not a word used by the Trump official to describe the incident.
Michelle Fields is a drama queen. I remember when — as a TheDC reporterette — she accused an NYPD officer of brutality during the Occupy Wall St. fracas years back. The video shows she got into the mix and was barely pushed. Yet she fell to the ground and sobbed and screamed on camera. It was ridiculous.

If she was truly assaulted, she should have filed a police report.
Any video or pictures of this “assault”??
The CONCERN TROLLS will be here shortly. Too late.
Just sayin’
How does a “campaign” assult somebody?” Only if the campaign has something to do with Mr. Trump. LOL
I read Michelle Fields side of the story on Breitbart. I think she is telling the truth. This is a situation that can be remedied quickly if done very soon. I support Trump, he just needs to fix this now for everyone’s own good.
Me too.
