Ted Cruz on Heidi Cruz and Council on Foreign Relations (CFR): A Conservative Serves?
Maggie's Notebook ^ | November 17, 2015 | Maggie H. Villines

Posted on 03/08/2016 9:34:11 AM PST by TexasCajun

Most of us are beginning to lean (not choose) toward a presidential candidate, one more than the other. None are without blemish, as they are all human. Ted Cruz has a solid record of conservatism, but his wife Heidi worked for the hated Goldman Sachs, resigning when her husband declared for the Oval Office. Mrs. Cruz was at one time, a member of the liberal, hated Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). Freedom Outpost had an informative post and video in March 2015 on the Cruz’s and the CFR. The video and video transcription is the main interest here.

The video interview was done by Derrick Broze, a “blogger/activist/citizen/journalist.” At the time, Cruz was a 2012 candidate for the U.S. Senate from Texas. I have a few comments about the interviewer after the transcript.

Remember that this was in 2012 when Cruz was running for a first term in the US Senate. His Republican opponent was David Dewhurst, the Lt. Governor of Texas. Dewhurst lost the runoff election to Cruz, and Cruz mentions Dewhurst in the video.

You’ll also hear Cruz refer to Medellín v. Texas.

The irony of this attack is that the biggest case in my tenure as Solicitor General was Medellín v. Texas, and Medellin –– the World Court, the judicial arm of the United Nations issued an order to the United States to reopen the convictions of fifty-one murderers across this country, and on behalf of the state of Texas, I stood up. I fought the World Court. I fought the United Nations, I fought the President of the United States. He was from my own party, it was George W. Bush, but I went before the U.S. Supreme Court and said ‘no President has the constitutional authority to give away U.S. sovereignty. I won 6-3.

Interesting, the SC case I referenced in the earlier thread in this article. Only Trump supporters believe the CFR stuff.

The attacks against Heidi Cruz originated during Ted Cruz successful run for the US Senate in 2012.

His victory in the Primary was considered a monumental upset.

Why?

Because he defied the party establishment to “wait his turn,” and ran against their anointed candidate, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst who had been selected by the GOPe to replace Kay Baily Hutchison.

Cruz went against the establishment and won in the primary and then the general election for the seat.

During the Primaries, Dewhurst tried every way he could think of to attack Ted Cruz, including going after his wife.

Dewhurst himself leaned towards GOP establishment globalist interests, so it was odd that he would attack Mrs. Cruz the way he did.

She had been invited to sit on a large panel at the CFR to reviewed a 2005 paper entitled, “Building a North American Community,” by Robert Pastor. To this day a number of people point to this paper as the initial proposal and idea for a “North American Union.” But the author himself has repeatedly denied that it had anything to do with the creation of such an organization.

According to the author, the paper called for mild international cooperation in North America on economic issues with no formal structure at all.

Heidi Cruz’s only identifiable contribution to the review consisted of a single paragraph in the appendix which says,

“We must emphasize the imperative that economic investment be led and perpetuated by the private sector. There is no force proven like the market for aligning incentives, sourcing capital, and producing results like financial markets and profit-making businesses. This is simply necessary to sustain a higher living standard for the poorest among us — truly the measure of our success. As such, investment fund sand financing mechanisms should be deemed attractive instruments by those committing the capital and should only be developed in conjunction with market participants.”

Her contribution was to point out that the Free Market and private sector were absolutely necessary components for economic solutions.

That’s it.

No call for a NAU.

No call for “no borders.”

All of that is a fabrication by a GOP establishment candidate at the time who was attempting to smear Ted Cruz...and it is being picked up now for the same reasons.

The people of Texas did not buy it then, apparently they did not buy it on March 1st...I did not buy it this morning when I cast my vote in the GOP Primary here in Idaho.

Now, as I have said, and for the ample reasons I have pointed out, should Donald Trump become the nominee...I will support him 100% against Clinton or sanders.

I hope and trust all GOP voters will do the same.

Thanks for the assist.

We don't call him "Dirty" David Dewhurst for nothing.

That the FRumpsters would co-op his line of attach on Heidi Cruz speaks volumes.

There will be many who will be bitterly disappointed that they fell for these “Dirty Donald” tricks and voted for this scam artist.

Mrs. Cruz was at one time, a member of the liberal, hated Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

Dick Cheney is/was also a member of the CFR. I don't consider him liberal or hated.

He ‘accidently’ voted for the TPP before he was against it. But his vote made it easier to pass the Senate.

CFR I see as the child of the Fabian Society. Sad to hear that one of my heroes, Jon Bolton was part of CFR. The CFR seeks to usurp US sovereignty so I’m not sure what I think of Ted’s explanation.

That is good. I think maybe Cruz might just be misinformed on the nature of the CFR, but seems to be on the right side of freedom.

They all speak the conservative talk and the God talk and the family values talk and the patriotism talk when they want our votes. Then they give us the shaft when they are in office. Establishment speaks with forked tongue. This is something we should all be familiar with by now. They know how to sound like us the better to deceive us. Cruz is a very eloquent liar.
