An example of "earthshine"...
The Sun is obviously off to the side during the various crescent phases, and so the portion of the moon seen lit here below is the result of sunlight being reflected off of the earth. ie "earthshine"

You might be right, good point. I can just change it to “direct sunlight”, then its unassailable.
