The significance of this NBC/Wall Street Journal poll is two fold.
First, it is the first poll to be conducted completely after the news of Antonin Scalia’s passing and Trump’s meltdown at the South Carolina CBS News debate.
Second, it is from a highly respected pollster focused on likely voters and who has a good track record of success.
The poll shows Ted Cruz in the lead now. It could be an anomaly. But internal polling of several campaigns all show the South Carolina race far tighter than the public polling.
This latest poll, however, does not account for Nikki Haley’s endorsement of Rubio and the several good days of good press.
We’ll find out on Saturday.
It's amazing these highly paid pollsters are about 90% wrong most of the time. Wish I could get that kind of work. No pressure to deliver at all.
I don't know if Cruz has caught or overtaken Trump - I think Trump's flip to "CODEPINK" talking points on 9/11 and the Iraq war will damage him, but Trump isn't 20+ points ahead.
I think it'll be close. I also think that over 60% of the vote will go to outsiders, Cruz, Trump, and Carson. The GOP-e is done; put a fork in 'em. The RINO's have always been saying that there's no conservative majority in the GOP, even as they stiff us as soon as they're elected. So, seeing the GOP-e candidates down to under 30% of the total vote kind of tells the true story, no? RINO's have been a minority for 50 years, but calling all the shots for the party since Reagan (and they tried to, even then).
If E-squared would put his money where his mouth is, there are bookies who are giving 13-to-one on Cruz. He could/should retire many times over if he would lay some loot one the line.
However, the odds are against it...

The real LOL is the Morning Consult poll. They have consistently been way out of whack win h RCP averages and real election results.

Well then, that can’t be very often, because most polls do not go against Trump. I’m referring to the ones in the primaries. Now, the national polls showing Trump being beaten by Hillary are a laugh.
