Mandatory Insurance Looms Over Gun Owners

Lawmakers in at least four states are pushing bills to force gun owners to register with, and buy liability insurance from, casualty insurers.

So far, politicians have proposed imposing these mandates through state laws in Hawaii, New Hampshire and New York, and through city ordinance in Los Angeles.

The bills are similar to legislation proposed last year in Congress by Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., whose "Firearm Risk Protection Act" would require gun owners to provide proof of liability insurance before purchasing a firearm and subject gun owners who fail to maintain insurance to fines up to $10,000, Insurance Business America reports.

The New Hampshire bill, introduced by Democrat state Rep. Katherine Rogers, requires not only firearm purchasers but also sellers and owners of firearms to maintain liability insurance. Violators would face fines of up to $10,000.

I don’t need insurance to exercise a fundamental, g-d given, constitutionally protected right.

Bite me.

I’m sure that the gangbangers will rush right out and purchase their insurance.

A backdoor to mandatory registration and how it will work.

“You can’t buy, sell or fire a firearm without insurance”
“To get insurance, we need SN of all firearms on property”
“Open the door, this is the DHS and you are under arrest”

Good. Now the gangbangers will have to buy insurance.

ROFL. That is a classic post. Constantly punishing the innocent because of the guilty. It never ends.

You really don’t understand that all of the other candidates have been in politics for a long time, and have done nothing to stop our slide to perdition. Before you say “Cruz stopped the Gang of Eight Bill, tell me what was in the Gang of Eight bill that Obama hasn’t done by Executive Action.

So this is like the New York Skating Rink. Trump didn’t know how to build a skating rink, so he hired people who did, and got the job done, because he is experienced in getting the job done.

That is what we need now. Someone who can get the job done.

When I tried to add my guns to my USAA property owner’s policy, they wanted make, model, caliber, barrel length & serial number of every gun I own. This was years ago.

No thanks, I said (click).

NH has a lot of problems, but threats to gun rights isn't one of them.

Any nut can introduce a bill - we have the largest House of Representatives in the nation - but this bill has NO CHANCE.

How about this. You are required to carry mandatory insurance to own a gun but if you use a gun in a murder or robbery crime you get a mandatory death sentence carried out in less than 6 months. That should thin the gene pool in a hurry.

This is an example of why the left is in virtual control of our entire society; (1) they never give up;(2) they have entered into positions of authority in all major institutions, churches, business, academia, medias, politics; (3) they are highly organized and when they move on an issue they move as a choreographed ballet; (4)They have mastered the science of propaganda and do not hesitate to lie, conceal and misdirect;(5) they are merciless; (6) they can think politically rather than economically.

Well put. They are patient and it’s all done incrementally, the people are dumbed down, etc..

Backdoor "infringement" using the we-can-force-you-to-buy-stuff leverage provided by the health-care mandate slippery slope resulting from the joint stupidity of Barack Obama and John Roberts.

What part of “ . . . shall not be infringed.” do these legal eagles not understand?

Everyone involved in putting these laws forward should be the target of massive law suites for attempted civil rights violations and every legal citizen should get a couple thousand dollars out of it after the lawyers get theirs
