...well, in a typical Einstein ‘thought experiment’ he compared the similarity of gravitational effects to acceleration effects by imaging himself being in a sealed elevator, not being able to know if the elevator was accelerating through space or seated firmly on earth with him simply feeling his weight via earth’s gravity. Assuming the rates were identical, a bathroom scale in the elevator would record the same exact results.

The topic discovery is important in that it proofs that we now have a technology to reliably explore the universe in terms of gravitational fields. If I recall, what happened was the detection of the collision of two black holes, and the sound (as it ends up, gravity waves emit frequencies that are in the audio spectrum)was detected at both US sites, as well as one in Italy. Big news, but it still does not explain gravity. I believe however, that I can, and it is here, on Free Republic, that I will reveal the theory of everything. 1. This means everything, your house, chair, trees, you, me, are all larger today than we were yesterday, and will all be larger tomorrow than we are today. 4. The Big Bang particle velocity is currently 9.8 m/s/s 5. That is why when you step on a high speed elevator and momentarily exceed that velocity, you can actually feel a little lighter for a split second. On a diving air plane, much longer. 6. Gravity is the difference in speed of a specific object and the Big Bang particle velocity. 7. Magnetism is the suspension of time. When one places a magnet and it 'sticks' to something magnetic, what has actually happened is the time has been removed with in the field. Without time there is no velocity, thus, both objects are moving at the same speed relative to the Big Bang particle velocity origin. :-)
