Another example of government abuse of power, the EPA is seeking to remove more freedoms from American citizens in the name of the environment, by prohibiting the act of converting street cars into race cars. The sheer ridiculousness of this move to can be measured by how little of an impact it will have on the environment, given how little the number of cars converted into racecars per year.

I thought kids of today weren’t interested in cars like we were in the past. Or is this an old-guy hobby now?
Cub Scouts better watch out - The Pinewood Derby is next!
Somebody does not have enough work for the amount of money wasted on that entity!
Government has become make work for democrats.
Both of your statements are at least partially true. There are fewer kids who are into street machines/rodding/car building. I’m going to a season opener swap meet this weekend and I know that there will be waay more gray hair than there was last year. Some of us do what we can to encourage kids but you know what they say about leading a horse to water...
They are eventually going after anyone who modifies their car for better performance. Things like installing a performance intake or exhaust. Having the ECU chipped to provide more power.
They won’t be happy until we’re all riding trains and bicycles to work.
It's all for the Environment you know.
Not to mention all the lead that gets melted into the bottom of the cars for weight.
These leftist bastards are really out to drive the nail in the coffin of traditional American culture.
Yea, right, sure.
All I know is, when I was doing Pinewood Derby, We’d invite the whole pack to my house, drill holes, melt lead and get the cars properly weighed in.
Or is this an old-guy hobby now?
At $200K PLUS the New Car, I would say it is definitely and Old Guys Hobby. This is what my friend does::

Should read OBAMA’S EPA is out of control. I heard they banned heating with wood stoves.
Lots of thought and imagination going into those cars.
Lots of "Dad" cars too :-)
Now THAT’s old school
My son’s college physics class had a Pinewood Derby a few weeks ago as a class assignment. We slapped together a car and put an old set of wheels that we had polished the axles and sanded the wheels.
He won.
