Ted Cruz won last week's Iowa caucuses, exceeding expectations and capturing an impressive 27 percent of the vote. Donald Trump took second place, while Marco Rubio took third.

I hope she doesn’t take a break.
There are too few like that.
But there will be a lot better stuff, dontcha think?
Cruz speaking truth in Barrington
âCool, this guy has all the right enemiesâ!
**********************
That’s what I’ve been thinking. When I say that to other people, they tend to respond “I hadn’t thought about it that way”.
How many affairs has Ted Cruz had? Trump has admitted to cheating on two wives and brags about his may affairs, including with the wives of married men. That's character?
Trump tried to take another person's home for his personal benefit and got the corrupt local officials to condemn her property for ony $251,000; and not the $1 million he claimshe offered her. That fits your definition of high character.
Then there was his personal knowledge that illegal Polish immigrants were used for demo work, including removal of asbestos, and getting just $5/per hour without employment taxes being paid. Trump used an alias to threaten sue the lawyer representing the workers to get even their meager wages paid. You think that is high character?
Trump is a slimball who has used political and mob connections to run roughshod over anyone who stands in his way for his selfish benefit. You call that high character?
South Carolina predicted the nominee since 1980 until Gingrich broke that streak last time. So its status as a predictor is now in question. Will you promise to give up the Trump campaigning if he loses that one?
Trump fights his own fights....he doesn’t depend on dirty trick PACs or radio hosts to fight for, or to defend him. He’s a scrapper. He’ll annihilate the hag and/or the Commie (same diff!).
>>A lot of Republican voters are conservative and quite a few are even religious.
Yes, we are. And some of us also understand the precarious position of the United States at this point in time. The FREE EXERCISE of our conservatism and faith, along with our economic freedom and the right to defend ourselves, is teetering on the edge. The Alinkyites will walk over President Cruz. President Trump can fight them with his own tactics on their strong ground.
A president who ignores the law (Obama, Clinton) can push us over the edge. A president who cannot motivate people cannot pull us back. If you think that Cruz is a motivator, then why is Trump even polling in double digits? Cruz should be walking away with the nomination with his “impeccable” conservative and evangelical cred. He barely won Iowa, a state where people get pulled over into a pack (and your brand of faith-shaming actually works there) before they vote. We’ll see how he does in NH and SC where people go to vote individually with no electioneering permitted in the polling place.
In those places and the rest of the states, you can’t stand there and say, “If you vote for Trump, you must hate Jesus.” for 60 minutes before a person can actually vote.
After Iowa only a fool would underestimate Cruz.
He’s deadly smart politician with an amazing ground game and organization.
This is Cruz's rallying cry, everyone hates me. Washington hates me, the media hates me, Congress hates me, etc.
It's really just another take on the Dems victim strategy. Hillary says it's because she's a woman or a vast right-wing conspiracy. Sanders says it's because he's against the establishment, similar to Cruz actually.
I'm sorry but if this is all he has, and it is because he hasn't really accomplished anything, then that's a sad reason to support him.
I don't buy the Republican line that I can't get anything done now so promote me. Cruz joined Paul Ryan to promote TPA Ted Cruz joins the establishment then voted for cloture on TPA. Big deal, brought us the Iran deal and will bring us Obamatrade.
>>But, oddly enough, I would not have posted that it it were not something Iâd read and Jim agreed with.
I only asked for a citation to this study. I’d like to see who did it and how they came to their conclusion. You brought it into the discussion and now you are playing the Jim Robinson card to make me accept your claims as truth.
>>Studies say Trump speaks at the 4th grade level. All I ask is for 3 or 4 grades higher than that.
Would proof of an 8th grade vocabulary really change your mind about Trump?
That’s okay. Everyone was underestimating the Denver Broncos.
Actually, he has plenty of endorsements in the house. But you are right, in addition to Ted Cruz’s phenomenally positive conservative message, he definitely has all the right enemies in Washington. It is most definitely one of the reasons he first popped onto my radar screen!
Is that a reason to elect a President, because he has the ‘right’ enemies.
-— He’ll drop out soon after Super Tuesday. His base of support is very small and shrinking. -—
OK
Anyway, only Trump, Cruz and Rubio have the resources to go the distance. This is why the professionals and media focus on fundraising.
The three candidates represent three subgroups that are not going away: Populist, Establishment and Constitutionalist.
Trump’s ceiling appears to be around 40% at the moment. Because he has record-setting negatives, the race could be determined at the convention.
Blanket statements are never true.
I said it’s ONE of the reasons. If he claimed to be anti-establishment and the establishment just loved Ted Cruz, that would be a problem.
