Distractions are Barack Obamaâs best friend.
While most of us focus on tonightâs eighth Republican debate or last weekâs Iowa caucus or what have you, 44 was busy doing something behind our backs knowing that the media wouldnât report.
However, not everyone turns the other cheek, Mr. President.
From IndependentSentinel:
The Trans Pacific Partnership, one of the biggest multinational trade deals ever, has been quietly signed by ministers from its 12 member nations in New Zealand.
The 12 nations account for some 40% of the worldâs economy â they now have two years to ratify or reject the pact.
Not a word about it in our media.
âA trade deal is a contract, and it must be one that puts American workersâ interests first, not the interests of global elites,â Senator Sessions of Alabama said in a statement. âIt is little surprise the administration is not showcasing todayâs signing given its unpopularity with the American people.â
This is something Donald Trump would call a âbad deal,â ala the Iran nuclear agreement.
A study found that 450,000 people will lose their jobs over the next nine years as part of TPP, and the measure will be brought before Congress with an up and down vote, meaning, no amendments.
After pushing through Obamacare, this is just another job-killing day for the Commander-in-Chief.
We want to thank all of the senators who signed TPA, to include Cruz and Rubio, who will be debating tonight.
Cruz says he only did it because he was “lied to” by Mitch McConnell.
He didn’t realize that a bill giving fast track authority to Obama would actually give fast track authority to Obama on TPP.
Neophyte, wet-behind-the-ears...something...but that sure doesn’t inspire confidence, Mr Cruz.
So whats up cruz and rubio why did you vote for it?
Trumka sold the entire US labor market down the river. Why do union members put up with this?
Both too young, too inexperienced...that’s being nice.
The other side is that “real conservatives” support “free trade” — that’s probably what happened. Doctrinaire conservatism says American jobs be damned.
Treason.
Some provisions of TPP allowed unhindered importation of foreign workers by foreign countries into the USA.
Back door immigration.
A good video that explains it.

Oh, Cruz was not lied to by Mitch McConnell. The cyber-screaming about TPA was intense during that on FR. Cruz refused to listen concerning the risk of passing TPA and thought he could control what would follow.
Obama Signs TPP Deal While Media Remains Silent, 450K People to Lose Jobs

Ping to article and # 2 .
As you well know, I strongly support Ted Cruz for POTUS. Even in spite of his misguided support for TPA.
I am disappointed in him for that vote — whether or not he was “lied to”, it was a total mistake on his part.
But it’s not a serious enough mistake to tip the scales in favor of another candidate.
This will be approved by congress by bare majorities without filibusters during the lame duck session if not sooner.
TPA has been around for 80 years. There has been only one President in that time who didn’t have it.
Cruz voted against the TPA bill that went to Obama’s desk and unlike Rubio, Cruz does NOT support TPP.
And what about the TPP provision that allows foreign directed immigration into the USA?
Is that just an oversight?
You do know that Cruz voted against the final bill. He voted against the bill that went to Obama. He also will vote against TPP, while Rubio supports it.
That was another reason Cruz voted against TPA. They did not include the language on immigration that he and Sessions wrote as an amendment.
Ted was for it, before he was against it.
LOL
Worth repeating.
Treason.
Cruz voted for it and says McConnell lied to him on it.
Yep.
He didn’t know that fasttrack would give fasttrack.
He also didn’t know he was a Canadian citizen even though he had a birth certificate all his life.
I knew it after a few hours of googling a few years back.
These things are weaknesses of character, and he just isn’t leveling with us. I don’t believe him.
