Gross.
Cruz took advantage of Carson and his supporters.
The bloom has come off the Rose for Cruz.
And the point is ?
Kick a dead horse ?
Hardly worthwhile to post at FR
It’s called Dirty Tricks, Shery....
....what part of ....’Let’s call the candidate (Carson) and verify this story’ ...do you not get????
Well done Shery.
Blaming the victim, very cute.
Great post! Cruz ran a great campaign in Iowa. Trump lost! Lets be honest, Trump lost. That’s the reason for this “scandal”. Trump lost. Carson ran the most amateur campaign in history. Ben announced that he was going home to wash his underwear at the start of the caucus. Sorry Ben you blew it and now are acting like a spoiled little leaguer who blames the other team of “cheating”.
Trying to shame Ben Carson, huh Shery? It’s politics so let it go.
I know this is going to sound cruel or racist to some, but the fact of the matter is that if this man were white, we'd not likely even know his name.
All too often, Republicans and even conservatives are eager to herald those diverse potential candidates that profess the same ideals as they - however blandly or loosely that may be. It seemed to me all sorts of accommodations were made for a number of things about him; my main conclusion about it was that it was because he was black and we wanted him to succeed.
In my last few decades, we've made that accommodation for a number of black 'Republicans' - Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, to name a couple. And oddly, the one steadfastly stalwart, articulate soldier - Alan Keyes, we said virtually nothing about. So now in some cruel fixation, he's been lead to believe he is still viable. He is patently not. Never was because the fight and determination to destroy Clinton was never there, nor will be. In the words of Dr. McCoy, "He's dead, Jim." "Beam him up."
Pathetic, Shery.
re: You seemed genuine and up to now, a real Christian.
I so love lectures to us lesser Christians by those that have the ear of God.
Carson got schlonged by the overzealous Cruz team, who followed the Rahm Principle of never letting a good crisis go to waste.
And by the way, if Cruz is such a “good Christian”, why didn’t he just apologize for injuring a good man instead of taking the same approach of denial that Hillary used about Beghazi?
Because Cruz’s ambition is stronger than his faith, obviously.
Has Carson taken any responsibility for having miscommunicated his intentions or for clumsy handling of his intentions/schedule by his staff? Rather than dragging out being a victim, he needs to show leadership and take a little bit of responsibility and vet his own staff. Indeed, what he himself put out there right before the decisions were being made would be harmful to himself without any interpretation because it appears as if he is too tired or disinterested. It would bring to mind questions of age/health. A serious contender does not do this to themselves. Sometimes your best moves are blocked by your own checkers. Sometimes the enemy is really yourself. A wise person, which I had thought Carson to be up until now, would reflect on this, at least, a little bit. Blame is easy. Playing victim is easy. Neither is leader-like. Disappointed in him as he was a favorite. If I missed his acknowledgement of his and his staff’s goofs then I take all of the above back.
Dear Shery. Thanks so much for your open letter to Ben Carson. Without your enlightenment I was actually thinking The Ted Cruz campaign should not have told Iowa caucus goers that Carson had ended his campaign without confirming it first. Without you I would not have known that Carson is at fault for being lied about just like those slutty girls who are raped after they dress a certain way. Thanks for helping me see the light. Its all Ben Carson’s fault.
Very well said, Shery.
Good job. MSM and GOPE have shown again who is most feared for promoting this and leaving out Rubio campaign’s role.
There was too much info flying around from multiple sources just on this issue alone among all the other info flying around on the night of the Iowa caucus. Trying to collate that influx of data in real time results in the "fog of war" where things become purely reactionary until the fog clears.
Carson's camp (I'm looking right at you, Armstrong Williams) shot itself in both feet and both hands with atrociously poor communications control. It was so bad that one could almost think it was a lame - very lame - attempt at a PsyOps action by the Carson camp. This was where it all started.
Both RUBIO and CRUZ ran with the info based solely on news reports without any due-diligence, most likely because time was of the essence during the midst of an active caucus. Both camps were wrong.
Both RUBIO and CRUZ should have tasked someone (or two or three) to *immediately* verify the info with Carson's campaign leadership. But they didn't. They stayed on social media with it and just added to the whirlwind of tweets & posts swirling about. Again, both camps were wrong.
Carson's camp should have tasked someone with contacting the leadership of all other campaigns & major media to clarify and correct the bad info they spawned as soon as they became aware it was spinning out of their control. But they didn't. They stayed on social media with it and just added to the whirlwind of tweets & posts swirling about. It may not have been solely their responsibility, but it was absolutely, most definitely, purely in their better interests to do so in an organized manner that left no doubt they were taking control of the messaging.
What I DO NOT believe happened was that either the major media, Rubio or Cruz staff looked at Carson's tweet and thought to themselves: "... Hey! Everyone look at this quickly!! Carson's camp just tweeted something that clearly indicates he's staying in the race so we should instead tell everyone he's dropping out! Great idea, right?!..." I think it would take a high degree of intellectual dishonesty to think that any campaign would knowingly do something like that -- something that they knew full well would so easily backfire.
Rather, they took Carson's message at it's word and responded accordingly. They had reason to think Carson was leaving the campaign because Carson's campaign initially led them to think so. After that, there was so much follow on traffic flying around from so many different sources, it was like trying to pick one shouting voice out of a convention hall packed with shouting voices.
Hopefully, everyone involved learned something. I doubt it. Opinions may vary...
Read through the posts of Carson supporters for the last few days and ask yourself how many of the posters would have changed their vote because of Cruz’s people telling them that Carson had dropped out. Not one.
If you like I will provide the answer:
None would have changed their vote.
