Carsonâs team has yet to produce corroborating emails to prove their allegations. It still remains possible, given that reports just past midnight might suggest Carson may well drop out.
Speculation abounded Monday night that GOP presidential hopeful Ben Carson might drop out of the race, after news broke that Carson was not sticking around in Iowa to wait out caucus results, nor heading directly to New Hampshire or South Carolina for the next primaries on the calendar.
The Carson campaign, now involved in another PR nightmare, had to dispel the rumors later today by blaming everyone but what the doctor ordered. His own supporters even complain about the campaignâs poor organization. And the cure to the political clap for Dr. Carsonâs doomed campaign should have been to amputate Mr. Williams Armstrong Williams from staff long ago. The death knell Williams dealt Dr. Carsonâs campaign occurred on January 22.

RE: Exactly not. Some people may even fall for such a silly notion. the Cruz campaign still went ahead with their misinformation plan to lie to the Carson caucus goers
There was NO INTENT on Cruz part to disseminate misinformation. The fact is the original tweet’s and the announcements made by the main CNN reporters gave a very misleading impression.
Many people don’t believe that crap.
This has been shown to be a lie. Nothing that came from the Cruz HQ said Carson was quitting.
RE: The Cruz campaign blasted out a Carson is quitting vote for Cruz email to 1,500 precincts to help Carson? Total BS.
Nonsense. The messages coming from CNN gave a very misleading impression. In fact, going to Florida to get “fresh clothes” is very unusual. All other candidates were flying to NH.
If Carson needed fresh clothes, NH has lots of shops for these. So it was highly unusual indeed and certainly gives the impression that Carson was not planning to seriously compete in NH.
That tweet came from Steve King, who got the wrong impression from CNN’s reports. He said “It looks like” Carson is out.
King apologized for the tweet later.
The truth is, a vote for Carson probably is a wasted vote. People have every right to do that. But then the other campaigns have every right to point out that someone who is not actively campaigning is a wasted vote — it was BREAKING news on CNN. Every campaign is competing for the same voters. Of course they make the case you should vote for them and not the other person. Rubio was out saying he was the most electable, so don’t waste your vote on the other guys (his team also had at least one tweet that was deleted on the Carson breaking news, as did the Paul campaign).
This is just team Carson trying to transfer blame for their own failures and being a pack of sore losers. Instead they should have been out trying to tell voters why they should vote Carson and not the other guys instead of leaving early and putting out news that made EVERYONE think he was probably dropping out. On the issues, though, Carson is bad on immigration, weak on pro-life, social, budget, deficit, education, 2nd Amendment, etc... His 10% is about his likability factor. Look for that to tank.
I watched CNN that night, and I’ve watched the Tapper/Bash vid, since.
NO WHERE did they ever say....or even post a banner....that Carson was ‘quitting’ or ‘suspending race’ or ‘getting out of race’.
They questioned the odd timing of him going to FL....but, they NEVER said the above word/s.
To tweet and call this out to caucus goers....during the caucus, without concrete evidence (like an official statement from the Carson campaign) was unethical.....and slimy.
If you really want to know, Ted apologized to Carson because he is a decent guy and a gentleman.
Ted neither started rumors about Carson nor passed them on.
CNN started the rumor ... now conveniently denying it .. and some of Ted’s more enthusiastic team members ... a few .. passed it on.
Ted neither named nor blamed his team. That’s not his style. Others are in the blame game.
He was sorry it happened and he told Carson so. Carson accepted the apology privately but then did a Trump and decided to try and get a little press out of it.
Carson seems to have forgotten that it was Trump who utterly destroyed him early on when he had more of a following.
Trump used vicious lies and allegations against Carson.
Neither Trump nor Carson have my respect at this point.
You went for the cheap shot instead of a good argument. Whatever. I’ll put you back on ignore.
Wonderful, fact-filled post.
I’m going to read it again just to reassure myself that there are still sane people here.
"Press says that Carson is going to take a break"... so tell all the Carson people to campaign with Cruz. At 7:53 the Carson people send out a release saying, "We're here. We're staying in the race. We're going to New Hampshire and South Carolina."
6:44 CNN Breaks the Story on TV (The MOST POPULAR PLATFORM, NOT THE TWEET from Chris Moody):
Did you hear any follow-up on the air about the Chris Moody tweet that Carson was going to stay in the race? No. Why did CNN not report that?
In fact, while Tapper and Bash were talking and it said Carson was going to take a break after Iowa. They are the ones who didn’t even mention their own tweet.
Why is Ted Cruz is more responsible for the integrity of CNNâs own reporting than CNN is?
Cruz’s next tweet was simply a repeat of the gist of CNN’s message:
CNN is reporting that Ben Carson will stop campaigning after Iowa. Make sure to tell all of your peers at the caucus supporting Carson that they should coalesce around the true conservative who will be in the race for the long haul: TED CRUZ!â

Check the links on the post for accuracy.
The Cruz campaign blasted out a Carson is quitting vote for Cruz email to 1,500 precincts to help Carson?
This has been shown to be a lie. Nothing that came from the Cruz HQ said Carson was quitting.
Cruz campaign strongly implied Carson was leaving race and to vote for Cruz in an email blast to 1,500 precincts. This is a total fabrication and lie by omission given that CNN had clarified that Cruz WAS NOT LEAVING THE RACE.
It’s creepy as hell.
LOL
Nice fairy tale. You should publish.
Jane, you are clinging to this story as though your life and Trump depended on it.
How many times does it have to be explained to you?
No one was evil. It was misinformation started by CNN.
The only evil person in the whole scenario is Donald Trump who was extremely evil to Carson way back when Carson had healthy numbers.
Apparently, both you and Carson have forgotten what your boy Trump did to Carson back then. You might look it up if you have a few minutes away from accusing Cruz of things he didn’t do.
By all means, than you.
The whole thing is stupid. Not very impressed with those trying to turn it into an attack on Cruz.

Me neither but it must be all they’ve got.
