I was in Geometry class in Dallas that day (Thomas Jefferson High).
1 fact and 1 rumor from that time:
1. Fact - The Kennedy’s and the Johnson’s were not “friends” - JFK and LBJ were not close...that is a fact.
2. Rumor: Several weeks prior to the killing of JFK, it was rumored that he was going to drop Johnson from the ticket in the upcoming election. True or not...who knows...but, it was being reported in the Dallas papers.
I remember that JFK was in the news for needing to go to Dallas to help repair the Democrat party. JFK and LBJ did not get along.
I was young, but I do recall the bit of news about having to go to Dallas to smooth things over.
