if he’s going to tax him $500 more and provide him with a $5,000 benefit, why not just give him a $4,500 benefit and leave his taxes alone? No socialist can answer this.
It's because it's the typical liberal spiel to tell someone something that sounds good in an argument or discussion to shut them up but never meaning it or following through on it. Its a soft form of lying. Liberals are good at conceptualizing but horrible on following through and realizing anything. They're like armchair mechanics who've never worked on a car telling someone how to do it.
What the questioner doesn’t realize is with the deductible he’s going to be in the hole. I wonder if the man was a plant or he actually believes after the obamacare debacle, he’s going to save money.
Did Bernie ever have a real job?
Another wasy fo phrasing it: If paying $500 more gets me $5000 more, who is going to pay for the difference? How does “government” turn $500 into $5,000?
Oh wait! I remember - we’re going to make the nasty rich people pay the difference! Because they OWE you...

We expect every adult to work around 40 years, saving up enough to achieve financial independence thereafter.
Why don’t we expect the government to do the same? After 200+ years of taking some 20% of all incomes and _owning_the_d@mn_money_presses_, why haven’t the feds managed to set up self-sustaining investments so productive they pay _us_?
The obvious follow-up question is this: who provides the other $4,500??
