There was a well known local restaurant that looked like it was torched near there a few weeks ago. That perhaps causes the suspicion of the fire chief.

Note: When I first heard the song as a kid I thought it was "every highway", not Carefree lol

You and about 20 million other people I'll bet. It was only until about ten years ago that I discovered it was actually "carefree Highway" and not "every highway."

Listening to the song, either Gord simply doesn't enunciate well enough to discern the difference or the swelling music obscures the real word. I guess the title of the song might have been a giveaway. lol

Every kinda works in a sense even more so than Carefree lol

Great thing about the song is the upbeat feel to it but the lyrics are the opposite. Good stuff

"I thought it was "every highway" till I just read your post"

Me too!

My wife and I heard this on Sirius just a couple of days ago, and we BOTH thought it was "Every Highway".

Unless you listen closely, it's hard to hear the "Carefree".

It's just Gordon L.'s way of singing I reckon.

Yes, and the FUNNIEST of ALL the shows, second only to Carol Burnett with the drapery rod as Scarlett O’Hara, was Dick Van Dyke alone in a cabin with only a rusty opener and a can of peas!! OMG!!

That’s the singular episode I remember from the series’ run, Dick Van Dyke in that cabin. I’d probably buy the entire season’s dvd-set (if it were available) just for that one episode!
