Following Thursday's Republican debate, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is calling for a reform of the debate process.
Speaking on "Fox & Friends" Friday morning, Carson suggested that one of the reforms the Republican National Committee should make concerning the debates is a time clock.
"I do think that, at some point, they need to readjust some of the formats, and actually have a clock and time the amount of time that people talk," Carson said. "Just because someone mentions your name you get twice as much time, or three times as much time. That really doesn't make a lot of sense."
Carson's sentiment about a debate clock is likely driven by the fact that he received the least amount of speaking time during Thursday's debate.
According to the Washington Examiner's Jason Russell, Carson only received 9.1 percent of the time last night to speak. That's a far cry from the amount of time allotted to Rubio and Cruz, who both surpassed 19 percent (19.9 and 19.6 respectively).
"I probably had the least time to speak, but perhaps had the most to say," Carson added during his interview on "Fox & Friends."
"It's important to be able to get the messages out, and I think the forum last night was more conducive to that than some of the others have been," Carson went on to say, noting that Donald Trump's absense gave each candidate a larger platform to pitch their message.
A spokesman for the Carson campaign did not immediately reply to a request for comment from TheBlaze.

A little snark bur no nasty. Public debates are necessary but not sufficient in a constitutional republic and I have no idea why any freedom lover would oppose them. So explain it to me.
How the time was divided between candidates:
“Domenico Montanaro @DomenicoNPR
After 6th break, per @barbarasprunt
Rubio: 13:01
Cruz: 12:35
Bush: 8:58
Kasich: 8:04
Christie: 7:45
Paul: 7:21
Carson: 4:05

Wow. Thanks. Interesting.
Looks like he’s got a fair point.
Would be nice to have a clock on the moderators too...
Wow. very insightful analysis. God bless you.
What’s wrong? They didn’t give him an Oscar either?
I like freedom as much as anyone else. I don’t like these ridiculous shows that really are not debates.
It was extra bad this year because of the Bush/Rove plan to use the splitter strategy. We have too many candidates to call these farces a debate. In the end, they all look bad.
Ben is most awesome when he goes all outlandish and says things like mooselimbs aren’t qualified to be POTUS.
Hell, he should double down, might be named VP.
Ooooh, behind a dark screen. I LIKE that idea a ton. I am so tired of the primping, the glaring, the sneering and the ridiculous antics of the “moderators”. NONE of the candidates should have to put up with that from 12 months out to election day. I mean, what in heck does it add of value?
I say this is an area that could be improved by substituting robots for humans as moderators, and have the robots randomly select candidates for questioning. If we can have driverless cars, why not have driverless moderators?
Yep.
I think they are all quite impressive. Even the ones I disagree with have strong intellects and communication skills. Much better than the left.
Why must everyone have to go through five more of these money raising exercises for the networks?
Everyone knows where these candidates stand on the issues by now. This is just becoming a moderator show of who can embarrass whatever candidate is needing to be brought down.
They are boring - Mr. Trump should talk as many other candidates as he can to join him in calling it quits, or everyone should hold more events to help the vets.
Leave the media sitting in the dust - let them debate each other.
I second that. Enough of allowing these liberal moderators and stations to beat up on our candidates. Anyone of the Republicans on that stage would be better than Hillary or Sanders. Enough is enough!
I seriously doubt that they would have known he was gone anyway.
Thank you Captain. Get a load of “The Last Refuge”, over at theconservativetreehouse on Cruz going off the rails today. Hope someone posts it soon.
Step further. Have the candidates answer each question separately (ie: alone), then air them all, sequentially, for the hour or whatever it takes to get them all played.
Ben, you need to be a little more assertive.
Ben play the Race card against Fox
Truth, Justice, and the American Way.
