Can a Safe hold up against a Shotgun?
Taofledermaus has just the improvised shotgun shell to try on this tough target.
This test of wax slugs is against an old safe. Can an old safe be penetrated by these wax slugs? Well, a full can of beer is what is being protected inside of this safe.
Watch as a shotgun loaded with wax slugs tries to strong arm it. At first try the rounds went through but missed the beer can inside the gun safe. Second try the rounds went through the safe and destroyed the beer can. The damage is quite impressive to say the least.
Matt the shooter used a Mossberg 590 12 ga shotgun with wax slugs, see the results here.
.
Nothing like a shooting range in the middle of a residential neighborhood
My gun safe would take a little bit more though.
The door itself weighs 1200 lbs.
Mr. GG2 makes his own wax slugs and they are lethal.
Why wax slugs? whats the advantage?
For one thing they are cheaaaaap. They also have the same power as a regular slug but they don’t tend to over penetrate.
OK. Thanks, I never heard of them. I always use lead or steel shot.
He has a row of greenhouses with workers inside directly behind his target. Yes they are a long way away but if he flinches and just clips the top of the safe, the slug skips upwards and will go a long way towards the greenhouses.
If he flinches and clips the side, the slug goes off in the direction of the neighbor's house.
Wax plug, with small shot.
If it clips an edge it breaks up into tumbling pieces with no range.
If he misses all together, it has the aerodynamics of a tumbling can with no range.
Yes but none of that matters. Without a backstop, he does not know what will happen once a projectile goes beyond the target.
Do you understand the difference in range between Rifles and Shotguns?
There is no shot shell load of any kind that would travel half that distance.
Yes but it doesn't matter if he's firing #9 shot at clay pigeons from a 410.
Even if 1000 yards distant, a responsible gun owner in such situation would instinctively fire towards the presumably less inhabited woodline than a row of greenhouses.
Nice video, thx
See post #16.
I already did. My comment stands untouched.
My shotshell done flew it
My shotshell will travel
Twice that distance for yoooo!
