Conservative Radio to Donald Trump: Like Ted Cruz or You Lose
The Daily Beast ^ | January 20, 2016 | Betsy Woodruff

Conservative talk-radio stars gleefully watched as The Donald rubbed everyone in media and Republican circles the wrong way. But now that he's turned his fire on Cruz, they're picking sides--and it's not Trump's.

In a gentler, tenderer age--an age long gone--Donald Trump brought talk radio hosts together.

These were the simple, balmy days of last summer, when radio talkers agreed that even Trump performed an invaluable public service by driving national media and the Republican establishment totally out of their minds. But those days are gone....

Good seats, pays to know someone.

This Sheriff was put off by this, as he said he came because Trump had said the police, firemen, etc. would be treated well.

Trump probably does not know about this, and would be very upset based upon what he has said.

Seems lots of the Pied Piper's lemmings signed on last few months.

This "lemming" has been around for a while.

You spilin' fer a fight, spurt?

If so, I'll give it to ya.

I didn't like your little "trash-talk" of Sarah Palin. She's a good friend to conservatism, and a good friend of the forum.

We don't need your kind of trash mouthing off about her.

No one on talk radio (except Glenn maybe, I don’t listen to him) is asking him to like Cruz. Most are asking him to stop attacking from the left and maybe actually fight him on the issues. Rush and Levin both have repeatedly said this.

Instead of making up BS about Cruz’s citizenship that Trump doesn’t even actually believe, they would rather see him hit Cruz on his immigration stance. Rather than call him names and claim that he’s worse than Hillary flippin’ Clinton, they’d rather see him hit his tax plan.

That’s what’s wanted. It is also what Trump is incapable of delivering. Talking about the issues has never been his strong suit so he resorts to ridiculous lefty style attacks.

This place used to be solid Cruz Country.

How can you say foolish things like that when many of us have been here longer than you!?

Some patriots know Cruz was born in Canada. Some of us know Ted's wife is a Vice President of Goldman Sachs and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Some of us know that Cruz has been a Washington DC insider for twenty years starting with being a law clerk for Chief Justice William Rehnquist.

His marriage is enough evidence that he is a NWO sleeper or plant and he has a voting record to prove it. How can a Conservative be fooled by this man?

Waaaaaa Waaaaaa Daddy, Johnny touched me. “Make him stop”!

Last time I looked FR was a free speech site focused on conservative issues, not some progressive place where its against the PC rules to speak the truth.

Sorry if the truth hurts your pointy little head.

Lemmings keeping Goose-stepping behind Herr Pied Piper as he leads you over the cliff and you sheeple frantically trying to drag America with you.

Now rush on back over and get back in line with your blinded sheeple. You don’t want to loose your mind and your place in line.

We’ll see in another week if the good people in Iowa are equally brainwashed. Betcha they ain’t!

“When somebody replies to your post determine who sent it first to decide whether it’s worth reading or responding to. You learn quickly which replies to ignore.”

I do not post to anything three Trump people write on a thread, and I do not answer their uninvited posts to me. I also do not open/read articles posted by several Trump people. If FR is overcome by Trump people as it appears may be happening, I will not post to political threads anymore. I have already stopped posting how elections work in counties according to election law. No more election education from me.

I have FR long time friends on other subject threads and would continue to post to those. Some of us have exchanged regular email addresses so we will not lose contact with each other should they be banned or leave. I hope, as Jim does, that FR is not torn apart.

Really? I thought Ontario, CA was in the United States.

But which country is that? I cannot from what he has said in the past decide where Trump stands on, say, the basic issues of federalism. He seems to be wanting to gather all power into his own hands. There is nothing to suggest that he would, for instance favor a reversion of power to the states. Or to Congress for that matter. Where does he stand on the pernicious doctrine of judicial supremacy? He seems to be asked for a grant of power as large as that of Obama to use at his pleasure.

Perhaps part of it is a question of faith. I have heard him say more than once, “If I am your president, we will be back in the Constitution.” The back in...emphasis on “in” is a very strong statement. The current administration has done everything in its power to destroy the Constitution....Clinton and others alo. We have been “out” of Constitutional rule for quite ome time and if Trump brings us back “in” we have nothing to fear. I expect him to use executive orders massively at first to stop and reverse, or eliminate a great number of wrongs to America and the American people. This will be done in the sense of haste, quickly done in order to clear the pathway to renegotiate deals that are unconstitutional or just plain wrong. Once we have the country back in hand and on the way to economic recovery we can dither about details, but I believe the man has principles and a sense of personal honor. He truly cares for America and he, like myself, want’s to see the old America again, an America we were proud of.

You are asking a man who has no settled political principles, so far as we can tell. His role in politics has been that of a lobbyist and self-promoter. We have never had a president like this. Even FDR, whom he resembles in some ways, was living up to a family image, “Uncle Teddy.” Of course, “Teddy” was like Trump in many ways. He was a master at handling the media. He even took movies of his exploits in Cuba. One critic said that the film should have been entitled, “Alone in Cuba.” Great Fun. The trouble with all that was that he and Woodrow Wilson vastly enlarged the office of Presidency. The office has never ceased growing since, with FDR playing the greatest role in that. Do we wants an ever large ego than that?

I think most people simply don’t understand Donald. I believe he will bring the country back on time and under budget! You’re right about the Roosevelts , Teddy and FDR. But the situation is greatly different now. The world has changed and we are not just fighting interior politics, we are fighting a world set on destroying us and dominating our future with the complicity of our current and some past rulers. A long life has taught me that we can’t have everything just the way we want it so effectively nobody is going to give us 100% of what we want. But, I believe the biggest question is who has an American heart. It was Reagan’s strength and, I believe, Trumps. He loves America and I believe he will protect her to the best of his ability.....which is formidable.
Trump is a winner. He is also governed by pride. He wants the best for America and sees opportunity where others just see dry, parched, earth. He is bringing Americans back together, can’t you see it? Other than the Cruz supporters who are a bit fanatical, he is getting cross overs from all sides. Do you want someone who is strictly conservative, can’t bind the country together, doesn’t have the skills to get our economy back running so that the small businessman and ordinary citizens have a dependable paycheck again...or do you want to take a chance on someone who definitely has the skills and the will power and can make it all happen starting day one? I’ll go with experience. I’ll go with Trump.

I fear the further enlargement of the Presidency. I would rather have someone whose power would be balanced by a Congress that dares to say no, and by states who say no. Trump would be a consolidator and a globalist. Even Cruz is more that than he lets on, but he at least gives lip service to States-rights.

In any case, , Lincoln said it best about Presidential power: I do not determine events, events determine me. We do not know what the situation will be 365 days from now. I believe if the economic crash had come on November 15, 2008, Obama would not have been elected president. Of course, he then would have been elected four years later with a powerful mandate. Counter-factual history is a corrective to office ail history by reminding us how much is a matter of chance.

Hell, Bernie Sanders has chance of being elected.

I see we agree to disagree. The condition of the Executive branch at this time indicates the need for congress to stand up and say no which is something to wish for. We have elected so called conservatives through the last two elections, have given the house and then the senate to the Republican party because they promised to stop Obama’s destruction of America. It was all in vain. NOTHING has been done to stop him and the reps and senators we sent to do the job have become part of the problem. In my opinion that includes Cruz who has far too much sympathy for illegals and has only changed his rhetoric on the surface after seeing which way the wind is blowing. I simply have no trust in him for numerous reasons and the list gets longer and longer. I think we need someone who will govern with common sense and the very best advisers in their field to straighten out our major problems and stop our decline. I cannot see ANY politician doing that, especially one owing his existence to lobbyists and the cheap labor express. We have a chance—and a chance only—to put America back as the leader of the world. It will take a stronger man than Cruz, a man with world wide business experience, a man with an ALL AMERICAN nationalist instinct and belief, and the expertise in a wide variety of fields to accomplish our renewal. I will not support under any circumstances another politician. I want an outsider with no strings attached, a civilian or a military man. Since General Petraus has been disgraced, it leaves a civilian, Donald Trump. We need a leader. He’s the only one available at the moment.
I have no affection for Lincoln. He started the Civil War to destroy States Rights and control the south. He succeeded and it is beyond me why so called Conservatives hold him in such high esteem. I revere George Washington, a military man, southern planter, who held personal honor above all things. He could have been King. He could have been elected a third time. He declined both. And yet we hear nothing about Washington and every day about Lincoln.
De the men make the times, or do the times make the men? Everyone should read Tom Paine’s Common Sense again. This time we are not fighting the British, we are fighting the whole damn world!

Yet as Cruz points out in his ABC interview, in 2013 Trump was against a hardline on immigration? Now he makes these draconian solutions that amount to what? The NRO tells us that while he invokes Buckley’s name, Buckley called Trump and demagogue and a narsacist. Has he changed? Well, he has got older.
