Right. But then you get into the hair splitting of original intent and the public’s lack of trust in the judiciary — no legal ruling can heal the wound.

Don't you see the paradox between what you just said and what you said before?

I don't think that, in this age of information, any of this needs codification at all.

I think your post ‘nailed it’ — state legislators will never go for the idea.

Which means ...

The Cruz Eligibility Amendment isn’t going anywhere.

But ...

Symbolic gestures still matter.

Promoting the amendment corners cynical Cruz-critics and allows this forum to heal a little.

I agree with the paradox. We need informed voters more than anything else. But we have to work with the low-info voters we have. Paradox.
