A. They are duty bound to do so by their Oath of Office

B. If they haven’t made O-6 (COL) or E-8 (Master Sergeant) by 26 years in service, they aren’t likely to make General or CSM. Retirement vests at 20 years (50%) and tops out at 30 yrs (75%). These leaders are all well past the retirement line, in some way.
