A common jargon used by military trainers is "Setting up to fail," a phrase denoting a no-win situation in which a trainee is guaranteed to fail an assigned task. Usually this happens because of the lack of training or very poor guidance. Such situations arise because leaders have no clear idea of mission objectives, harbor a hidden agenda, are ignorant or just plain stupid. Programs are deliberately set up to fail in order to pass blame to students or hide the fault of the managers who implemented the program.
On May 7, 2015, the Obama Administration announced that the United States had begun a long-awaited, $500 million program to "train-and-equip" Syrians to fight the Islamic State, in Syria. The Administration insisted that the programâs aim was to target Islamic State forces. The U.S. trained forces were, however, limited to the defense of their own ground. They were not permitted to take territory from the Islamic State. The Administration also had no concrete plans on how to provide military support to trained fighters within Syria. The American trainers were ordered to not fight Assad's forces because the U.S. was not at war with Syria. In fact behind the scenes the Administration had been secretly communicating with the Assad regime for years. Clearly the program was set to fail before the first volunteer showed up.
Failure
According to graduates of Obama's "train-and-equip" program, the Regime's goal was not supported by the people it was intended to help. The Syrian rebel's strategy was first remove the al-Assad regime and then drive out ISIS. They felt that if they had the heavy weapons they could easily defeat extremists. The population would see that the Islamic State would have been driven out by Syrian fighters.

The entire “Arab Spring” has been a complete disaster.
Christianity being run into the ground and now Europe invaded.
Trump needs to start asking questions about the Muslim Brotherhood. Who are they and why are they in the White House?
Did the strategy fail or did it exceed? This should be debated by top military strategists on national media outsets, irregardless of what the media think.
The entire âArab Springâ has been a complete success.
Christianity being run into the ground and now Europe invaded.
Er, uhm, you forget who he is fighting for. And who he is fighting against.
Trump needs to start asking questions about the Muslim Brotherhood. Who are they and why are they in the White House?
This is a good place to start ..........
Valerie Jarrett, front and center. The Shadow President has been pulling the strings for Iran long enough, and the effect is to come to some kind of tacit support of the Russian-Iran axis. This seems to be in contrast to the clandestine support that has been given ISIS simultaneously, and the truly insipid and fatuous support that was supposedly directed toward the “moderate” Muslims pretending to raise a revolution against Bashar al-Assad.
Russia moved in because of a total vacuum that had appeared in the entire theater of the Middle East. Was that a good thing? Perhaps not, but the Russian actions probably prevented a lot of much WORSE things from happening.
This is no longer a matter of “tolerance”. There is a very real existential threat, not merely for the minorities of the Middle East, but to most of Europe, and further down the road, the North American continent.
Obama learned that, with a stroke of the pen, he could rename and re classify ex al-Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood Jihadi as “moderate rebels” and then enroll them in American special warfare training taught buy Navy seals and then equip them with American supplied weapons and vehicles.
This was part of Obama’s plan to overthrow the old, established leaders in the Middle East and hand the entire region over to the Muslim Brotherhood or Iran.
He largely succeeded in his goal.
“The American, Muslim Brotherhood approved resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave has been busily revamping Arab Spring plans in Syria.”
Excellent piece, explains everything. One note though - to be taken seriously it’s probably best to avoid comments like the above. We FReepers in the Peanut Gallery are perfectly capable of taking care of that angle.
Where did the $2 billion he spent to train 4 rebel fighters go? Follow the money!!
Maybe not, but I am sure some MIC ‘contractors’ were very serious about getting in on the gravy train $$$$ such an opportunity presented. And the people who could get them on that train were not doing it for free either.
bump
Sheesh a half a Billion dollars is chump change for Barry Soetoro. He has spent that much on golf!
Obama trains them. Putin kills them.
