Wasn't the original Adam a lawyer...."that woman YOU gave me...."

Or

"THAT WOMAN you gave me....

Works either way.

Much ado about nothing. We just need to look at ourselves to see what Jesus looked like. Each of us are blessed to have a bit of Christ in us...it is called The Soul or the Holy Spirit.

Merry Christmas.

This is interesting, but it bears little or no relation to his teachings. And those are what is most important. What he looked like is an interesting curiosity.

A careful reading reveals that He transited right through the crown trying to push Him off of a cliff in His home area.

I was thinking more of the incident where the Jewish clergy was going to stone Him for blasphemy:

John 8: 58-59 KJV

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

I’m not sure of the Scripture you’re referring to. Do you have book, chapter, and verses?

“His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.”

It’s nice seeing this language during the season of “gentle Jesus meek and mild.”

I just came across this (which apparently has been around for quite a while). Apparently, Cesare Borgia was the model for many later depictions of Jesus:

While all the while Jesus really looked more like Andy Serkis:

The image you posted was, I believe, based in part on AVERAGES of certain traits for the time and region. Imagine how well such a basis might mislead if applied to, say, George Washington...

If you believe the biological father of Jesus was Joseph, not God, then science (genetics) matters, but Jesus does not.

If you believe the biological father of Jesus was God, not Joseph (the Virgin Birth), then Jesus matters, but science does not.

So either it does not matter how he looked, or we cannot determine how he looked, respectively.

Great art tells us what Jesus looked like -

But His behavior is far more important than His appearance.

Moot point. We’ll all see Him eventually. In one way or another.

The reality is that He probably looked like any other typical working class Hebrew of the day. But it makes it easier to pray to Him if you have an image in your mind, so I use this (Revelation 19:11-16 (NIV)):

11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”[a] He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.

I saw this depicted in a painting by a local artist years ago, and it has been my Jesus image ever since.

That picture could be a composite of most of the men in Galilee at that time.

The average height in this town is uh, oh... 5'9". And I am 6'5". Does that mean I am 5'9"?

Fools.

They should be hearing, ...and doing, what He said (Matthew 7:24).

There was a show where they treated the shroud of Turin like a "flat file" image of a person and converted it to 3D. The resulting image was of an average Jew. If you saw him in a crowd, you would never notice him. If that person walked into your store, you wouldn't remember him 30 minutes later.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

-- Isaiah 53:2-3
