Yet, somehow, it's always conservatives who get tagged as Scrooges. (Just do a Google search of "Scrooge Republican" to see.)

I’ve read “The Christmas Carol” as a kid several times.
As miserly as Scrooge was, he was an honest businessman. He only expected others to follow the agreements they made in deals with him to a tee
If Scrooge was alive today he would be really, really old.
The article cites several great examples of why Scrooge would be a liberal, but one that the writer forget is that Scrooge was against burning coal.
I disagree. I think that Scrooge transformed from a liberal to a conservative in a Christmas Carol. Why? He initially refused to participate in any Christmas celebrations and balked at “giving” his employee a day off ... asked “Are there no workhouses or orphanages? (indicating that he approved of government sponsored financial support over personal/private support) and had little sympathy for Tiny Tim (thus.. a modern day pro-lifer). His transformation turned him into helping others via his own finances. He sought forgiveness from his nephew and bonded with his family, helped a disabled child (who was destined to die) and kept “Christmas” in his heart every day of the year. Thus, he was “born again” in a way.
“Are there no workhouses or orphanages?”
You beat me to it, Mom. That was the first thought that came into my mind!
Liberals are really fond of getting “institutions” to do their “charity” for them.
Eh, even so, he’s at least honest about the fact that he doesn’t care too much for the poor and isn’t generous, so that’s one point in his favor compared to liberals, who often lie about whether they actually cared about the poor and are generous. I’d certainly be more willing to have respect for Scrooge even on his worst days than I would for Karl Marx.
