The professional apparatus of the Republican Party are signaling their intent to do exactly what we predicted they would do. Trump will win the primary, and the GOPe will split the party to run an additional candidate in the general election.
It’s not Trump going third party – It’s the establishment GOP (GOPe) intending to go third party. They are planning a modified version of the Mississippi Strategy from 2014.

We are a long way out yet, so anything can happen now that Trump is backing them into a corner, they are going to get desperate.
No, what some either fail to understand or in denial about is, the Republican Party in its entirety does not give a damn about what the American People, let alone their voting base wants. The Republican Party knows full what its voting base and the American people want.
I don’t see how the GOPe could effectively run a third party candidate if Trump wins the nomination. No. If the GOPe is out to do anything, it’s to find a way to keep Trump from being the nominee. If they can keep him from winning it outright, they might be able to pull some shenanigans at the convention. However, once he receives the nod, I think the GOPe’s goose is cooked short of coming out in favor of Hillary.
Both Trump and the GOP would lose if Donald runs third party. I doubt Trump would do this and I also doubt the GOP would run away from him if he wins the nomination.
Ted is also to highly praised for revealing how the GOPe in the Senate introduces bills designed to fail as ‘SHOW VOTES’ when they could, in fact, attach such bills as riders to must-pass legislation, but they won’t because they secretly want the SHOW VOTE bill to die, why? Because they are bought and paid for.
Case in point, repeal Obamacare, defund PP etc. designed as a SHOW VOTE destined to die. It could have been attached to the must-pass Highway Bill, but it wasn’t.
What did they attach to the must-pass Highway Bill? Why of course, reinstatement of the crony corrupt Ex-Im Bank.
Ted Cruz has done a high public service by opening the eyes of Americans to how the GOPe operate, and the GOPe hate-hate-hate him for it.
I agree they are more likely to support Trump if he wins the nomination. That doesn’t mean they won’t do everything in their power to thwart him before that, including trying to pull something off at the convention.
In regards to Romney, methinks he’s not capable of taking out Trump. Romney may be able to consolidate the RINOs, but that’s still short of a GOP majority.
You do know that Cruz not only ignored the advice Sen Sessions gave him on TPA, he actively lobbied for TPA. Cruz said Sessions was just plain wrong and also participated in a Wall Street Journal op-ed to rally support for TPA. I’ll also point out that most Freepers knew the score. How is it that a man as smart as you claim he is got played by mcconnel when most of us here FR did not?
Heck, many of us have said the same (The Mississippi Treatment)for weeks and weeks.
So, since you are pals with Rove, can you tell us if he is a Conservative?
Turd Blossom is handsomely paid to stand up, make friends and peddle influence. Besides, in Texas even some rattle snakes are friendly, if they’re full. You know that.
Who is no conservative is Turd Blossom himself, so why Blossom comes up with an imaginary beef like that one with TRUMP, I’m sure I don’t know.

The GOP is running up trial balloons, to get Trump’s numbers down, create fear, scatter his sheep so to speak, and make out that Trump is the cause behind every ailment Obama and Hillary can come up with. Besides, after 11PM the conspiracy theorists come out too.

A lawyer friend of mine just said two days ago (big Romney supporter) that he was seeing Romney operatives a LOT on Facebook, I believe it was, and it made him think Romney is going to run, again.

How does that work, don’t you have to file by a certain date to be on the ballot in all 57 states?
