In Turkish media it emerges that Turkey's support for ISIS jihadists in Syria comes from the highest level of power in the country - the President and the government.
Today's Zaman, which is controlled by the Gülen movement, writes that President Recep Erdoğan has admitted that the Turkish intelligence service, MIT, has smuggled weapons to ISIS in Syria.
In a speech on November 24, to an assembly of teachers, the president said, according to the newspaper:
"You know of the treason regarding the MIT trucks, don't you? So what if there were weapons in them? I believe that our people will not forgive those who sabotaged this support.”
Erdoğan was speaking just hours after Turkey shot down a Russian Su-24 aircraft near the Syrian border on Tuesday morning.
The comment came after Turkish press has been presented with increasing evidence of this illegal transport. Today's Zaman writes:
Early in 2014, an anonymous tip led to the interception of a number of trucks on the suspicion of weapons smuggling. The first operation took place in Hatay on Jan. 1, 2014. Another anonymous tip led to three more trucks being stopped and searched in Turkey’s southern Adana province on Jan. 19, 2014.
Justice and Development Party (AK Party) officials called the 2014 investigation of the MİT trucks “treason and espionage” on the part of the prosecutors because the trucks were claimed to be transporting humanitarian aid to the Bayır-Bucak Turkmens.
Erdoğan, who was prime minister at the time, said during a television program immediately after the interception of the trucks became public knowledge that the trucks were carrying aid supplies to Turkmens in Syria.
Many high-level Turkish officials, including then-President Abdullah Gül, said the trucks' cargo was a "state secret," which led some to speculate that the trucks were carrying arms.
According to the Canadian online newspaper ThinkPol, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has said in a meeting with the ruling party that it was he who personally gave the order to shoot down the Russian jet.
26. November 2015, chief editor of the Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet, Can Dündar and the newspaper's Ankara correspondent, Erdem Gül, were arrested, accused of being "members of a terrorist organization, conducting espionage and revealing confidential documents." If they are found guilty as charged, they could be sentenced to life imprisonment.
This is of course because they have revealed some of President Erdoğan's crimes, something the president and MIT look at as a a crime in itself.
These are the terms of democracy used by our NATO ally Turkey, a country we are obliged to go to war for if NATO gives the order.
You can’t leave out John McCain
Agreed...Our son was in Desert Storm and came in contact with Turks in Germany before that, he feels the same.
Do a search for Serena Shim, US citizen.
Who did Ambassador Chris Stevens meet with just prior to the attack on the US compound on Benghazi?
What was the mission of the CIA annex in Benghazi?
Where had Barry just drawn a Red Line?
We all suspect Barry of helping his ISIS Brothers, but he hasn’t admitted it yet as Erdogan did.
I suppose if Obama did, Congress would have to finally file the bill of indictment against him.
That’s funny stuff, huh? Congress standing up to the executive branch? For treason, failing to adhere to his oath of office.
Anyone suppose any of this — Turkey arming ISIS — is a surprise to Putin?
Well, no, I suppose, but he attempted to stand behind Article 5 of the NATO Charter in support of Erdogan's transparent aggression to cover his own tracks in dealing with ISIS.
That is a great video. Biden gives it all away, game, set and match.
Then deal with them all according to what the law says.
I just saw an ad while watching the Walking Dead season mid-finale—they’ve made a movie about the Behghzi debacl. Told the wifey, you can be sure they’ve whitewashed Barry and Hillary’s involvement—criminally negligent failure to respond, assist and then the lies.
Obama could admit and nothing would happen.
The American people and the US Congress would not allow US forces to go to war to protect Turkey's support of ISIS and Al Nusra. And who knows how many more Jihadi groups in Syria...and Iraq.
That jig is up. Obama's illegal wars stop here.
And Turkey is on their own, as most certainly none of the other NATO allies will protect them either.
May they burn in hell fire.
And Grahamnesty and Rubio
How else could Obama have smuggled weapons to them?

Turkey would like to take back this region from Syria, lets see if they do.
President Obama only destabilizes friendly regimes.
How about: Erdogan must go!
Lets back Russia.
Erdogan is supplying ISIS with weapons making no secret of it at all. He is now allowed everything it seems. A Russian military jet has been recently shot down over Syria by Turks and they well may brave the same sort of thing with some French jet or other. It will be OK too! Erdogan appears to be captivated with with the nutty project of restoring the Ottoman empire and he had got Obama’s sanction to act this way I’m sure. Now, he may employ all the thinkable tools to reach the goal, I bet you. He may hire not only the ISIS to shatter situation in the chosen regions, but the devil himself as well!
Erdogan is number one terrorist presently imo.
