". . . we have a lot of same ideas."

"Except that Ted is a timeless Constitutional Conservative...."

And, therein lies the great difference.

From Page xv of "Our Ageless Constitution," here are excerpted words from President Andrew Jackson's Proclamation of December 10, 1832:

"We have received it [the Constitution] as the work of the assembled wisdom of the nation. We have trusted to it as to the sheet anchor of our safety in the stormy times of conflict with a foreign or domestic foe. We have looked to it with sacred awe as the palladium of our liberties, and with all the solemnities of religion have pledged to each other our lives and fortunes here and our hopes of happiness hereafter in its defense and support. Were we mistaken, my countrymen, in attaching this importance to the Constitution . . .? No. We were not mistaken. The letter of this great instrument is free from this radical fault. . . . No, we did not err! . . . The sages . . . have given us a practical and, as they hoped, a permanent* Constitutional compact. . . . The Constitution is still the object of our reverence, the bond of our Union, our defense in danger, the source of our prosperity in peace: it shall descend, as we have received it, uncorrupted by sophistical construction, to our posterity. . . ."

*Underlining added for emphasis

And, it was Thomas Jefferson who used another metaphor with reference to the Constitution when he indicated that "the People" must "bind them (government) by the chains of the Constitution." In another instance, he declared: "It was intended to lace them up straitly within the enumerated powers. . . ."

Only a candidate who understands and can articulate the ideas underlying the Constitution can help "the People" to resist future tendencies by those in government to impose their coercive power over a once-free society, all in the name of "protecting" us from foreign threats.

while Trump has been successful in business precisely because he has been apolitical -- that is, without reference to politics, Democrats equal to Republicans as far as he is concerned.

So yeah, the two "have a lot of the same ideas" except for that little thing! In fact, for 21 of the past 26 years, Trump has donated as much to Democrats (more actually) as to Republicans. I wonder how much money Cruz sent to Democrats running for office over the past 26 years in order to secure his own financial gain?

Trump is a great businessman -- he has self-promoted himself as such so convincintly that now he is a celebrity icon. Good for him -- great showmanship, great for business, great for his stockholders. But what's great for business may be very bad for the cause of liberty, such as donating to Democrats like Harry Reid, Kerry, Schumer, Rangel, Hillary, and Kennedy and justifying advancing tyranny as "the cost of doing business."

It's a good thing the Founding Fathers and the signers of the Declaration of Independence didn't take that stance with their own businesses.

Trump lacks a political compass to guide his ideas -- his entire success happened because of being scrupulously apolitical. No one knows what they're really voting for because Trump has ZIP actual political record of action and a penchant for nationalized health care done his magic "The Donald" way. Trumpcare as opposed to Obamacare, when what we really need is for the Federal government to get out of it altogether.

Cruz's ideas are consistent because he operates on a political compass much like the Founders.

Trump, sincere well-meaning patriot that he is, is still obviously a crap shoot. Cruz is a sure thing.

Well, Ted was wrong on the 14th Amendment and Trump was right. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
