Candidate Marco Rubio Tries To Hide His Support For Trans-Pacific Trade [TPP] Deal…
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | Nov. 11, 2015 | Sundance

Ted Cruz isn’t the only presidential candidate trying to hide his support of the globalist trade deal known as TPP. Marco Rubio is trying a similar approach at avoidance.

It would appear that both Rubio and Cruz have recognized that not only is TPP unpopular, but their support for TPP has the potential to expose their hidden alignments with Wall Street globalists. This election will be won/lost around this issue – watch.

Marco Rubio - enters race( Via Breitbart ) Marco Rubio declared the Trans-Pacific Partnership to be one of three essential “pillars” of a Rubio Presidency—is now taking issue with a Wall Street Journal news report that lists Rubio as supporting the unpopular Obamatrade pact he voted to fast-track.

The Wall Street Journal article observed that: “Still backing the trade legislation are the party’s establishment wing candidates: Sen. Marco Rubio and former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida and Govs. John Kasich of Ohio and Chris Christie of New Jersey.”

Indeed, it was in the very pages of the Wall Street Journal that on April 29th Rubio wrote: “We must rebuild our own military capabilities, conclude and pass TPP, and renew our support for freedom and the rule of law in Asia.”

Then, on May 13th, Rubio declared: “It is more important than ever that Congress give the president [Barack Obama] trade promotion authority so that he can finalize the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Moreover, Rubio cast a vote for the final passage of the Trade Promotion Authority—also known as fast-track—all but guaranteeing formation of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, as no deal placed on a fast-track has ever been blocked. That is because fast-track eliminates all amendments, eliminates the filibuster and treaty vote, and authorizes the President to finalize and sign the agreement. As Obamatrade opponent Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) wrote:

“A vote for fast-track is a vote to authorize the President to ink the secret deal contained in these pages—to affix his name on the Union and to therefore enter the United States into it.”

But after the Wall Street Journal listed Rubio as supporting the pact, a new paragraph suddenly appeared at the end of the piece stating that “Mr. Rubio’s spokesman said that although he backed the bill granting Mr. Obama fast-track trade authority this summer, he has not decided whether to support TPP legislation.”

Contrary to the spokesman’s statement, however, Rubio has explicitly articulated his support for TPP. In his April op-ed, Rubio affixed his name to an editorial declaring that we “must… pass TPP.”

Rubio wrote:

“The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), discussed between President Obama and Prime Minister Abe this week, will further our strategic goals in Asia and increase prosperity at home. It will advance economic liberty and unleash free-market forces in the world’s most dynamic region… We must rebuild our own military capabilities, conclude and pass TPP, and renew our support for freedom and the rule of law in Asia. Too often over the past six years, U.S. leaders have spoken of their attention to Asia but failed to back up the rhetoric with action.”

Similarly, in an address to the Council on Foreign Relations in May of this year, Rubio described TPP as the “second pillar” of his three-pillar foreign policy strategy.

Joe S:

It is a big game. TPA was necessary to get the deal done so that FEWER Senators and Congressmen would have dirty hands on the deal. They are playing us. The same approach worked with the Iran deal. Rubio and Cruz will vote against it while they basically made it happened.

I am sure they are negotiating as too who has a safe district or who is not up for re-election in 2016, so they can decide who has to own it and who does not. I even wonder if part of the recent budget deal was negotiated with the Dems so that they could get some of them to vote for this deal the second time around and relieve some of the burden on the GOP. Some seats are just safe period.

This is disgusting.

This needs to be voted down now.

There are posters here on Free Republic who cannot stand the idea that Republican candidates are involved in a conspiracy to eliminate USA sovereignty. That is what the Globalists want - a global government.

Trying to hide what they are intending to do is a conspiracy of the most craven sort.

And we thought the communists were rotten!!

I am sick of hearing how he won the debate

He had two down the middle softball questions and blew them

One with Rand Paul over building up the Military , which all he had to say was I guess it didn't hurt Reagan rebuilding a military during a downturn in the economy

Then Maria gave a list of Hillary's position's she held

Did he say how is the reset button with Russia working?

How is Libya doing as a Terrorist haven after she overthrew the Government

She lucked out with Egypt overthrew the Muslim Brotherhood

Then the mess in Syria

He blew two questions

The writer of this article is absolutely wrong about Cruz. Cruz does not support TPP. The reason that he initially supported TPA was that it would secure fast track for the next President who would hopefully be a Republican.

Cruz supports Free Trade in principle, and was representing the over 5 million jobs in Texas that rely on exports. Cruz does not trust Obama. When Rand Paul and another Senator blocked the Immigration language that Cruz and Sessions wanted in the TPA bill, Cruz withdrew his support and voted “No”. That language would have prevented many of the sovereignty issues currently in the TPP bill.

Cruz has already said he doesn’t support the TPP bill that is 5500 pages of treachery.

I watched the debate. He was very rehearsed and did not seem to answer anything from the heart.

Cruz helped make it possible for Obama (not the next president) to pass this with 50 senate votes instead of 60. If it passes with less than 60 votes whether he opposes it now will be irrelevant. No spin on your part can change that.

TRUTH HAS NO AGENDA

******************************

HR2146 (TPA “Trade Promotion Authority” or “Fast Track”): This House Bill #2146 originating April 30th ’15, became the vehicle for passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal.

HR2146 was originally introduced in the House of Representatives as a bill to address issues with retirement funds of federal law enforcement officers and firefighters.

In April of 2015 Senator Ted Cruz and House Ways and Means Chairman, Representative Paul Ryan, supported TPA being added to HR2146. Their support was most notable when they posted the following Op-Ed which appeared in the Wall Street Journal on April 22nd:

http://paulryan.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398270

On May 12th HR2146 passed/agreed to in House: On motion to suspend the rules and pass the bill, as amended. Agreed to by the Yeas and Nays: (2/3 required): 407 – 5 (Roll no. 220). (text: CR H2848) The bill passed the house 407-5 because it was not controversial.

As planned, on June 4th 2015 The senate passed the house bill “with changes” notably an amendment “adding TPA” (thanks to Ted Cruz) and TAA (needed for Elizabeth Warren coalition) By unanimous consent thereby avoiding a roll vote on record.

https://www.congress.gov/congressional-record/2015/house-section/page/H4507-4518

On June 18, 2015 the House accepted the TPA change (Paul Ryan spearhead) and removed TAA (the financial assistance package for training of union workers – this angered the Pelosi Dems). Nancy Pelosi had to be arm twisted by the White House to go along with HR2146 with TAA spending removed – she acquiesced.

Without TAA HR2146 passed again in the House, only this time with a much closer vote of 218-208, and went back to the Senate to resolve differences. (The difference was the removal of TAA)

https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/2146

On June 24th HR2146 (TPA without TAA) Then passed the Senate (Ted Cruz did not attempt to block or filibuster because this was the original plan all along). The bill passed in the Senate 60-38 (3/5ths passage rule).

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?&congress=114&session=1&vote=00219

On June 29th Obama signed it and HR2146 became law.

Senator Ted Cruz voted for Cloture on TPA Fast track trade authority removing the hurdle and concern of further amendments and clearing the way for passage. Again, like “unanimous consent” cloture votes are not recorded roll call votes. Thereby Ted Cruz could obfuscate his support. He figured to hide, see how that works?

However, Cruz advocacy could not be hidden entirely. On another bill HR 1314 Cruz voted against an amendment to the Trade Deal that would require congress to be consulted if China (or other nations) were to join after the fact:

Senate Amendment 1251 “To require the approval of Congress before additional countries may join the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement”…

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=114&session=1&vote=00189

Cruz voted NAY. Directly saying he did not want congress to be consulted before other countries, namely CHINA, could join TPP.

NOTICE: during last nights debate who was saying China is not part of TPP, contrast against who was honestly saying TPP carries a backdoor for China (and Russia) to join.

NOVEMBER 4th – In an interview with Russian interstate channel Mir TV, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry invited China and Russia to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

“We invite people to come join other initiatives, like the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the TPP. We welcome China, we welcome Russia, we welcome other countries who would like to join, as long as they want to raise the standards and live up to the highest standards of protecting people and doing business openly and transparently and accountably,” said Secretary Kerry.

Donald Trump was entirely correct. Senator Rand Paul was factually incorrect.

BOTTOM LINE – Look, it might hurt Cruz supporters to admit what took place, and the transparency of motive behind what drove his decision making; but it makes no sense at all to ignore the truth of what took place.

Unfortunately, Ted Cruz is part of the Wall Street purchased construct that is currently infecting our entire body politic. The connections to the U.S. CoC legislative agenda, and Goldman Sachs are evident within action not words, along with KtP and obviously his wife Heidi Cruz.

I strongly suggest you look at what they do, rather than listen to their denials.

Cruz supports free trade. He does not support TPP because it cedes our sovereignty to a panel of reps from other countries. There’s no intrigue here.

TPA has been a part of every trade agreement for the last 80 years. Now a bunch of conspiracy theorists want to smear an honest man like Ted Cruz, so they concoct some convoluted bunch of crap to smear the most Conservative man in Congress.

Your statement is incorrect since the next President will have five years of fast track authority. Almost every President has had fast track authority for the last 80 years, so trying to assign all these ulterior motives to TPA is a bunch of tin foil hat crap.

There have been at least 20 Republican Senators who have come out against TPP. With the opposition TPP will get from union friendly Democrats, I’m not sure McConnell can get this passed with a bunch of back room deals.

“...Now a bunch of conspiracy theorists want to smear an honest man like Ted Cruz,..”

You’re not alone. There are Freepers who are aghast at what Sen.Cruz’s actions actually say about his “Conservative” principles that he so easily spouts. The man was a debate champion and part of their training is to be able to switch sides and debate for the other side.

His votes tell the truth.

Oh! Watch what they do, not the lies they use to try and explain everything away.

I don’t have any problem with Cruz’s votes. If he had voted for the final TPA bill I would have been fine with it. He represents Texas.

There is nothing in his actions to suggest anything nefarious.

That Tpa for future President spin is pure propaganda !

This Tpa was carefully designed to insure the a treasonous TPP passes !

Read this
http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/11/10/post-gop-debate-open-discussion/

Sorry Cruz scammed everyone .
Tpa was carefully crafted to get TPP trammed thru with little chance to Stop it.by design .

Even if Tpa is not voted on it automatically passes .
Tpp has amnesty and massive H 1 visas included in it even though Cruz and Ryan both denied and just flat out lied about it .

Cruz voted twice for Cloture on Tpa .
Once Tpa passed cloture it was impossible to stop since you only need a simple 51 votes to pass rather than the usual 66 votes !
Soros ‘s TPP is pure treason and has NO Free Trade Only Crony capitalist rigged games !

Horse crap. This TPA bill is like every TPA bill that has been passed in the last 80 years. Cruz believes in free trade, a conservative principle, but he does not believe in nor support TPP because it cedes our sovereignty to a multinational panel.

Cruz has fought for the sovereignty of this country and won in Supreme Court cases against the World Court and G.W. Bush. That is why G.W. doesn’t like Cruz.

Your statement is incorrect since the next President will have five years of fast track authority.

Irrelevant, since the deal is done now.

Almost every President has had fast track authority for the last 80 years,

And every deal has been passed, often by less than 60 votes. There is nothing tin foil about presenting the facts. The fact is if this passes with between 50-59 senate votes, Cruz will have helped make it possible. Nothing you say can change that. So quit the conspiracy theory nonsense.
