Just pre ordered the new Enya album. As a part of the pre order you get 2 songs off the release. The songs are titled "Echoes In Rain" and "So I Could Find My Way". If these 2 songs are any indication of the way the rest of the album is, Enya should be able to purchase a few more castles in the near future. The first song "Echoes In Rain" is a bright strident tune with Enya's trademark sound- deeply layered voice and instrument tracks with hints of both classical and ecclesiastic music. But more than that, this is a song of joyful, unwavering Christian PRAISE! The songs refrain is a resounding and upbeat "alleluia!" over and over. I'm a big burly manly He-man , but I am totally unashamed to say this song brought a tear to my eye. It is unapologetically both happy and reverent at the same time. And don't put the kleenex away just yet. "So I Can Find My Way" is a heartfelt"thank you" to ones parents on much the same level as Josh Groban's equally lachrymose "You Raise Me Up". Good stuff. Enya on average puts albums out only every 5 to 7 years. But if she keeps putting out stuff like this, it's worth the wait. I of course welcome your thoughts and comments

I do like her music, but I have to be in the right melancholy mood for it. Glad to hear something new from her! :)

Noticed it’s also available on vinyl. Nice.

She seems very classy and dignified. A throwback. Unlike many of today’s pop stars.

That’s actually a criticism i’ve heard of her music- it’s downbeat and morose. Well, whaddaya expect, she’s Irish! They call Scots the grim, dour ones. But the Irish are equally capable of being downcast and brooding. But I think it’s a criticism she’s listened to as well. Her last few releases have included more upbeat songs. One song on her last album even included a (gasp!) electric guitar. Being 3/4 Irish myself I can get into the more somber stuff as well. But there are indeed 2 choices: “happy Enya” and “sad Enya”. It’s just nice knowing there are choices out there.

She’s just an old Fashioned “Nice Irish Girl” as my mom would say. She even sings with her hometown parish choir at Christmas! (no, not kidding).

God I love her and her songs. There is something very spiritual when Enya sings. Too me she sounds like an Angel. The first time I ever heard of her and her songs was in the commercial Crystal Light “Sail Away”

I noticed that too. I wonder what the difference in listening experience would be?

I don’t know. Vinyl has probably taken advantage of the tech revolution in music and would probably sound better now than 30 years ago. I’d still buy the CD because it’s easier to transfer to my cpu & phone, but I can’t get past the nostalgia of vinyl.

The first time I heard Enya on the radio it stopped me cold. It was an immediate “wow, what is that?” response. I then didn’t hear it for a while and out of the blue about a week later managed to watch the video for “Orinoco Flow (sail away)”. I was transfixed. That was ‘87 or ‘88 I think and I’ve been hooked ever since. She is the One artist that I can honestly say that I’ve liked everything she’s put out.

I agree there is not 1 bad song she has ever recorded. I love each and everyone especially with that Angelic voice.

Shortly after 9/11 a tribute was made showing numerous photos of the attack. Enya’s ‘Who can Say’ the background music.
When I hear that piece I relive 9/11 all over again, including the rage.

Have several of her CDs.

I think the reason for that is that Enya is a relentless perfectionist. Her albums are heavily produced, and she will “get it right” before she even thinks about releasing a track. And even then she will go back and “revisit” a track, tweaking it and reshaping elements. I’ve seen her take a track, rework it, remix it and then re-release it multiple times. One example of this is “Oiche’ Chiun” a Gaelic version of “Silent Night”. I am aware of at least 3 different mixes of this same track.
