The sixth season of CBS' hit police procedural drama TV series "Blue Bloods" is airing this week with a brand new episode that will reportedly veer away temporarily from the Reagan family crisis storyline. Meanwhile, Erin finds herself at odds with her father.
The spoiler report from Latin Post for the episode titled "The Bullitt Mustang" indicates that partners Danny and Baez will be tasked to investigate a robbery case involving a rich man whose Mustang got stolen. What makes the vehicle so special is that it is the only remaining Mustang from the 1968 film by Peter Yates, "Bullitt," where it was driven by actor Steve McQueen......

Precisely. This photo captures the pastiche, the veneer,
of a Catholic family. Dig slightly deeper: Selleck shacks
with a woman who blows into town on occasion; Jamie shacks.
Erin raises Nicki in classic Liberal do-what-you-want manner.
The clerics who appear are invariably money-grubbing and hypocritical,
always set straight by Selleck who is wiser and more merciful.
The show disgusts me because it is so good, the characters
so riveting, Selleck such a great guy, but portraying cafeteria "Catholicism"
as the "real" Catholicism. I think it reflects accurately on
the vast majority of how "Catholics" live their lives, and so
has great appeal. But to those few of us who take all the
teachings of the faith seriously, to see it manipulated as
this otherwise excellent show does is simply too much to bear
watching further.

I am also RC and the show is written and produced by practicing Catholics. I recall a couple of episodes that were not totally in keeping with our faith -— a young Nun, with a past girlfriend in her civilian life -— but unlike you, I am not offended at all by Blue Bloods. I don’t see the assaults on the Church that you see.
Be well. God bless and keep you.

Dang. That channel not available on my programming package.

I listed some of the offenses. I believe I have watched every episode from the first 5
seasons. Have you watched all of those episodes? If not, you will find what I am talking
about. If you have, and maintain what you say, please explain how you condone what I
listed, if you care to. I'm not seeking an argument, just stating the fact that BB's portrayal
of Catholicism flies in the face, quite often, of Church teaching, and does not put the
clerical hierarchy of NYC in a good light.

My husband watches “Blue Bloods”, sometimes repeats. He
loves the “idea” of multiple generations of a family
sitting around the dinner table every night. (A nice pipe
dream; but not the general rule in reality.) I like the
theme music, the story lines when I have time to follow the
story line; but it is, for the most part a lie. Those
*stars* leave the set and go home to a totally different
life; of course.

I think of seen every episode at least three times, likely more. I don’t see where you’ve cited any specific details.
The actual hierarchy of NY’s Catholic Church leaves much to be desired. If anything, BB’s does it merit, IMHO. I recall one episode about a wayward priest who fled to Canada for example.

Tom Selleck spent the night at a hotel with a woman, an old friend, who comes into town
occasionally. The next morning was Sunday, Selleck said he had to go to Mass, and she
joked, both of them smiling, that he would have to go to Confession first.
Unmarried Jamie is shown in bed with a woman, on 2 occasions I can recall now.
So what do you say in reply?

Great episode. As always.
Interesting concept for the guys.
Anthony Edwards’ Mr. Cairo was a dead giveaway, ie ‘The Maltese Falcon’.
A nice Jamie and Jenko moment with the “Moving Violation” ticket.
And the additional payoff of watching Erin going toe to toe with her dad, the Commissioner. Holding her own. And giving as well as she gets!

Hard to imagine any Hollywood production would have a family praying at the table together. And each week.
Wish they give a bit more story line to the two grandsons.

Here's Mr. BeStillMyHeart himself.
Told hubby last night it would have been better to pan off with them taking a picture beside Robin Master's red Ferrari.

Interesting quote. Care to explain it in relation to what I am discussing?
