Yep. My students are 99% Hispanic. How do you think they do on the state test, which is in English?
Some live here because their families are involved in cartels and it’s “safer” for them here. That wall can’t come soon enough for me.
The schools are out of control! No respect for both teachers and students. I have a 4-6th grade Sunday School class and have been time and again hearing the “frickin’” word. I told them I would not tolerate its usage and gave a mini sermon on “low life” talk. When I asked if this kind of language was permitted in school, they all answered in the affirmative. One boy said that they have a teacher that uses it all the time. The others conferred. I said the teacher might need a dose of Sunday School and one girl followed with “more than that”.
The ones on this thread that don’t think it’s real have lived sheltered lives.
It’s time for us all to face reality.
My thoughts too. It looks like one of those homemade indy movies.
Have you ever watched any Indy(independent) movies? That’s what this looks like to me.
The longer I’m on FR the more your humor grows on me. I don’t always get it, but you make me laugh.
What reason would they have to fake this? It only makes them look horrible. I went to a high school with many “Amish,” and they acted just like in the video.
If I was the teacher, I would have left immediately when that started. The girl who stayed mainly on the floor rolling around and laughing, appeared to be on something. The boys AND the girls doing that should be expelled for the rest of the year.
Sure I have. I think I know what you mean -- the plot doesn't fit the normal movie formula. The characters act in strange, even contradictory ways. The teacher is held prisoner. She wants to control the kids but she knows if she shows fear or aggression it will be worse. The best she can hope for is for the period to end. She keeps mumbling about "security" but nobody is willing to help, and she won't (or can't, because of fear or school policy) leave the classroom. She's trapped.
The only way it could be worse is if the teacher were white.

One reason occurred to me: Fake it to try for a lot of youtube views. yt pays real $$$ for vids that go viral.
I suppose an adult, and not necessarily a teacher, might go along with it for some reason like that.

There’s nothing happening in that classroom that couldn’t be cured by bringing in white students.

Thats been going on in NYC schools since I was in HS back in 1981.
Even at Brooklyn Tech, a black girl slapped one of my teachers in the face right in front of me and the rest of the class.
I wish I had the money to buy scholarships for these kids to attend Sidwell Friends.
