They’re not “absent”, they are presence challenged. They are undocumented scholars.

Who needs school as long as the gubmint is providing for your every need?

Cut off their welfare payments until they get up in the morning and get their kids to school. The taxpayers will pay for their free breakfast and free lunch. We are sick of sharing our paychecks with ignorant parasites whose only achievement is producing another generation of ignorant parasites.

America needs special schools for students who want to learn, the hell with the others.

In my opinion the problem is TOO overwhelming as it has to do with core values.

*Girls/women HAVE to stop having babies out of wedlock. That goes back to values supposedly inculcated into TWO-YEAR old children.

**Pastors HAVE to risk their jobs and preach on the sixth commandment, the "sex" one. It's NOT simply adultery. It has to do with all sexual conduct.

***The government, local, state and federal, HAS to stop rewarding that behavior. Since the wallet, purse or back pocket is EXTREMELY sensitive to most Americans that HAS to be the place hit the hardest.

Exactly. The fact that the kids don’t show up is not an issue for the school. The fact that someone found out and it jeopardizes their funding is.

Besides, those absentees are WAY too busy selling dope and being dopes. NO time for education.
Also they KNOW that they can stay sucking on the government nipple for their entire life. So, why bother to improve themselves with education?

Yeah, prosecution is a waste of money. Start cutting off the various forms of welfare and the parents will suddenly find a will to get their kids into school.

The crazy thing is that Detroit actually has some top notch charter schools to choose from.

In all fairness to the parents, I wouldn’t send a kid to a Detroit public school either. Privatizing and chartering every school in the city would probably lead to greater attendance. Those who still wouldn’t attend are lost causes.

Of course, when they do show up it is difficult for the responsible students to learn.

For many of the chronically absent school is a waste of time. They are low IQ, disruptive and poorly motivated. The taxpayers will end up supporting them.

Back in the day not showing up was not an option. Short of a verifiable emergency you had better not miss a day of school. Nowadays, attendance seems to be optional.

We used to have a School for people who did not show up and had excessive absents, also the state paid only for student who was in attendance.

Detroit kids are onto something. Public school’s a waste of time. Every parent in every school district should be urged to keep their kids home until the public school system collapses.
