Move over, trigger warnings, and make way for full-blown censorship.
Students and staff at Wesleyan University are demanding the school cut funding to its own newspaper, The Wesleyan Argus, for publishing a column questioning the Black Lives Matter movement.
Whats in this piece of blasphemy? The op-ed asks BLMers to rethink how theyre approaching the problem of racial injustice and recommends they distance themselves from the vilification and denigration of the police. Sounds pretty reasonable to us.
Not to some in the ever-outraged Wesleyan community. Until their demands are met, they call on everyone to confiscate and destroy every copy of the paper on campus.
Plainly, these kids dont sense the irony in their behavior. If Black Lives Matter isnt all about shouting down your opponents, youre not helping by trying to silence one of its critics.
Heres an idea: Wesleyan denizens could try understanding the other side of the debate rather than muzzling it. That is, after all, what college is supposed to be about.
Commentary: Understanding the other side of the debate? But surely debate is unnecessary! Members of Wesleyans student body have learned all there is to know during their 18 or so years of life. And just in case they missed something along the way, instructors who have become quite worldly in travels from classroom to classroom...

My class (’73) was the last all-male class to go through a 900 enrollment Wesleyan.
It has gone downhill ever since what with 1500 men and 1500 women, every last one politically correct. They’ve even tossed out all the frat houses for fear for their “safety”.
(I really enjoyed the weekend road trips to Vasser, Holyoke, Conn college and all the rest.)
