We the people have been needing a little inspiration, if truly it is us who must brave up and push back in some small manner against the opposition, the enemies of the state from within, and the foreign threats that are obvious.

No other candidate makes us want to restore ourselves, regroup, and remember that we are Americans. We deserve to have a leader who delivers OUR message for a change, a message flagrantly absent flattery, pandering, political correctness, and relavitism. We have prayed for such a leader.

Now one comes along who is a force, and because he doesn’t fit the Establishment’s mold for viability, and does not perpetuate the same ole credentials of big me, little you, and the currently accepted give away attitude of our country to her enemies, foreign and domestic, he is declared unsuitable, distasteful, brash, ungentlemanly, a loose cannon, and much worse.

Trump has NONE of the characteristics of a politician and none of their nasty habits and is outside the loop of their increasing corruption.

We don’t even recognize our country any more, and it’s all due to our leaders, who are no longer even close to putting the welfare and benefit and love of our country first. All of that goodness in our country is made secondary to themselves, to their own political future, insider power and advancement. If that weren’t true, they too would have their warrior hat on, like Trump.

They would be screaming. None of them are screaming for the country! They are all speaking in low tones about basically business as usual, details of policy, showing their expertise, but none are in the shoes of the people.

Trump seems to get that fact, and it matters to me that he does.

I agree with you. But first we must have a candidate who can win. The William Buckley principle is that we elect the “most conservative” and “one who can win.” Trump is neither. Trump is playing us just like he does the viewers on The Apprentice. This is a global “reality” show for him, but not for us. Let’s face it. He has given wads of cash to Hillary; to Blasio, to the snake who is the Virginia governor, he is all over the place on Planned Parenthood; has said squat on gay marriage (which just a few weeks ago was burning up the pages of FreeRepublic) and now he goes on national TV and cannot articulate a coherent plan on how he proposes to implement his signature issue. He tells Christian Evangelicals that he does not need forgiveness for anything he has done. Great!

Rita, that was so well said that I hesitate to add anything to it. I'll simply reinforce what you ably stated with a few of my own observations.

Trump is most definitely an unlikely hero, for the very reasons you stated above. Even as late as a few months ago, I would never have picked him as a likely contender for the 2016 Republican nomination. He was completely off my radar and I had no earthly idea that he felt so strongly about choosing such a daunting task at this point in his life.

The fact that he came into the race in the fashion he did, made me sit up and take notice. I reluctantly gave him a fair hearing, and was blown away by what I heard. He was saying the very things that we Freepers have been screaming for years.

But my ears didn't just perk up because of what he was saying - it was also because of who was saying it. Here's a man who has conquered every mountain in his field, and who has become synonymous with winning at the highest levels of business. What could he possibly gain by running for president at this stage of his life?

Taking on the ugly, life draining, gargantuan task of reforming our federal leviathan isn't something that anyone in his shoes would likely do, unless that person had carefully looked over the current state of our country, and had come to the conclusion that this nation will fall to ruin if even ONE more establishment politico is elected as president.

Simple objective reason dictates that this man has chosen to step up to the plate as a citizen whose life and career have uniquely prepared him to take on the task of Commander in Chief at a critical juncture in our country's history.

It sounds melodramatic, but that's exactly what we're witnessing.

Some have bemoaned the fact that, "he's not a conservative", but I dare anyone to read over the key points of his agenda and say that with a straight face. It's also frequently said that "he supported liberal ideas in the past", and I guess that's true. So did I. So did a lot of mugged liberals, and other Americans who've since wised up.

To me, one of the hallmarks of wisdom, is having the ability to constantly observe what's in front of one, then improve upon ones problem solving skills by learning from what one has observed. I think Trump passes the test in that area, and will no doubt pass more as he goes along.

However, Trump's most important attribute is his leadership quotient. It's perhaps the one thing he possesses in spades, that most others in the running can only pretend to. Simply holding elective office doesn't qualify one as a leader. Real leadership has a quality that is at once, recognizable and irrefutable. People know it when they see it - and they respond favorably to any person who has it. Trump is the quintessential BOSS, and everyone who comes in contact with him knows it. That, more than anything else, is what this country needs in our next president.
